I have a lump in my right breast about the size of a golf ball. My doctor and I both easily found and felt it. Went for an ultrasound today and the ultrasound technician said she saw nothing. Anyone else have this happen?

I had a lump both felt by me and doctor also quite large. When went for mammo felt sharp pain and they could not find it. Then had ultrasound and was no lump just debris. Possibly was a cyst that popped during mammo? Not sure how that works when a lump just disappears. Was there "debris" left? Maybe someone else could comment with more experience

I had a palpable lump under my areola that ultrasound couldn't see either! It was about the size of a marble. I couldn't believe it. My breast surgeon moved straight to an open biopsy, as I also had thickening of the areola.

If you're concerned, definitely ask for a referral to a breast surgeon. My U/S reports indicated 'normal dense breast tissue' and I was going to just leave it at that, until I accidentally bumped the lump one day and it was excruciatingly painful. Went back to the GP and he referred me straight to the surgeon. I just had the biopsy last week, results next week, but it appeared in surgery that the lump was an infection.

Don't stop seeking answers until you're satisfied it's been thoroughly checked out
