I had no idea going into this that my boob would look worse then the mastectomy. I am now going into surgery again to debri and clean and hopefully fix my boob. Right now I have a huge hole! The doctor told me after reconstruction it may not take and if so I would have to go back in and they would have to take it back off. I never imagined that a part of it wouldn't take and honestly was never told. Has I known I'm not sure I would have done it. I'm praying they can fix it! Any one with a similar experience?

My plastic surgeon made some very small breasts from the skin that was left over from the mastectomies. Unfortunately, I had problems on both sides. The left side got an enormous seroma that gushed fluid. The right side had massive tissue necrosis and required debridement in her office. My husband almost fainted when he saw how bad it looked. I've been an RN for 40 years and I swear, this is one of the worst wounds I've ever seen. It look like a German Shepherd had taken a huge bite out of my chest. I could see the chest wall. I became terribly depressed and was diagnosed with PTSD about two weeks later. It took 16 weeks for it all to heal.

Although this was probably the worst experience I've ever had, the good news is it finally did heal up and the scarring isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The depression Has Lifted and the PTSD is under control. I'm going to give reconstruction another try, but with a different plastic surgeon. I've totally lost faith in her.

I hope things get better quickly. I know this is not what you signed up for, but unfortunately sometimes this is the way it goes. You and I were the Unlucky ones.
