Vargadoll: I agree about the Love or Cheer button. Hope you have a good week with rads.
Claire: Thanks for posting your gorgeous pictures.
Ruth: Looks like your snowbirds friends had to dig out their winter clothes.
Hi Everybody! I fixed a big Easter lunch on Sunday (ham, turkey, deviled eggs, potato salad, green beans, sliced vegetables, rolls, and heirloom cake) and have been eating leftovers every day. Yum! I've been walking/running faithfully.
-
Ruth, I'm so naive about the world. I always imagine that ND is sparsely populated so therefore it is so quiet. A long time ago I read the book Dakota by Katherine someone, and I remember population decline and quiet and that her mom was good at drying the laundry on a clothesline. Then you post a photo of your walking group and I'm amazed at how many women are there! And I imagine that it isn't quiet. It looks like a whole lotta fun.
Tonight I had yoga here with one other mom. We had a good practice in our sparsely populated class. Lol. -
North Dakota is not necessarily quiet, but the nice thing is that you can get to somewhere quiet real quickly if you want to!
I cleaned house all afternoon (including spot shampooing stains on the carpet), went to yoga, and actually made a compliment worthy dinner when I got home. No rest for the wicked!
-
Ruth, good looking bunch of ladies.
Work sure gets in the way of walking!!!
The weather here is changing with snow predicted for Denver over the week-end. Spring time in the Rockies!!
Sweet dreams....getting off the computer, packing my lunch for tomorrow and off to bed!
-
Nats glad you are on the mend. LB kind of in the same vein - I have been watching The Royale Family again on Netflix and I looked up Caroline Aherne and come to find out she died of lung cancer and when I watch it now all I see is them all sitting on the couch smoking and the full ashtray, the whole show they have cigarettes going ughhh. Ruth it must not be too cold by ND standards as none of you have gloves on Add me to the list who wish we had a love and cheer emoji.
Wanted to go to Body Combat tonight but got home too late to make class so I just did a Body Combat Express and a Sh'bam in my living room 'On Demand' then found out a guy I love was subbing U Jam at a gym near me so went out and did his class.

Thank you all for your prayers and warm wishes. Our dearest friend will be removed from life support this weekend. We are devastated.
In my sorrow my exercise is very sporadic - even though I know I should get out there and walk clear my head, I just can't make my feet obey. Easter weekend my daughter and friend came to visit (and to pick up a car to replace her wreck). We did a long beach walk one day, and a long bike ride another. Some gardening and yard work this week, but that's about it. This weekend one of my sons is coming - I think he just wants to be here to support us, which is great - hopefully we can get a little outdoor time with him too.
Then on Monday my husband leaves for Nepal for 3 weeks, so my BCO friends please give me some not so gentle nudges next week to exercise everyday - I know I'm going to need it to keep my spirits up through the memorial service and beyond.

Dear Pat, I am so sorry to hear that you are losing a dear friend. Here is a poem I turn to at times when grief is too heavy to bear.
The Thing Is
by Ellen Bass
to love life, to love it even
when you have no stomach for it
and everything you've held dear
crumbles like burnt paper in your hands,
your throat filled with the silt of it.
When grief sits with you, its tropical heat
thickening the air, heavy as water
more fit for gills than lungs;
when grief weights you like your own flesh
only more of it, an obesity of grief,
you think, How can a body withstand this?
Then you hold life like a face
between your palms, a plain face,
no charming smile, no violet eyes,
and you say, yes, I will take you
I will love you, again.
((Hugs))
-
I am so, so sorry, Pat. Sending love and hugs your way, I am glad your son is coming for the weekend. Yes, it will help (a little) to exercise, and yes, we will expect you to report in!
Beautiful poem, Falconer.
Subbed today (happily in history, not math) and took a walk. My Book Club meets tonight, so that means dessert, wine, coffee, and conversation......some of it actually about a book!
-
hugs, Pat. I am so sorry for your loss.

-
(((Pat))) So sorry about your dear friend. Glad your son will be with you this weekend.
Nats: Good news that you are doing well. Been thinking about you.
Falconer: Such a beautiful poem.
-
Pat I am so sorry, your son coming will be of great comfort to you. Beautiful Falconer.
Last night did Sprint and U Jam then added to extra steps by pushing a cart around Costco, I only went in for milk but a few other things happened to fly into my cart - why oh why can I not resist buying workout clothes, my drawers are overflowing I need to purge but always justify with "oh I may wear that again"
-
Pat, be gentle with yourself and enjoy family this weekend. Spent the day at a workshop put on by the Kent & Medway Cancer Action Partnership and sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support. It was somewhat interesting, not overly helpful for community organizations but glad to make some connections with other orgs. Another new report of what already know and do: http://www.oncologynurseadvisor.com/breast-cancer/exercise-positively-affects-outcomes-in-breast-cancer/article/651313/

Yoga this afternoon with a friend
-
Subbed, walked, took a hot fudge sundae to a friend recovering from knee surgery (ate one myself in solidarity with her ), and now trying to talk myself into a toning DVD.
-
LB: Always good to read a new report about what we already know!
Ruth: I know that sundae was good.
Cheryl: I feel your shopping pain. I met my sisters at a mall yesterday. One sister was going clothes shopping for an upcoming family wedding and my other sister and I were tagging along. So who ended up buying something? Only me, of course! (Walked into a Vera Bradley store that was 50% off everything in the store and then an additional 20% off)
Mall shopped/walked yesterday with my sisters. Walked/ran today after the rain today.
-
Wonderland, you're a woman after my heart - Vera Bradley has great stuff and on sale is the best!!! Ruth I had to stop by the pharmacy and pick up a prescription for myneighbor after the gym - I stood in front of the ice cream fridge but I resisted, of course now I wish I had bought some
Cardio Dance Party tonight.
-
NatsFan, how are you feeling? Was thinking about you last night, as we had the game on here. (The Cubs game). I never watched much baseball but my DH has loved the Cubbies since the 80s. He used to listen to them on the radio but since they've been doing well we get to see them as there isn't as much cringing as there used to be. I hope you're recovering with your leg up in front of baseball games. Thinking of you.
Octogirl- I forgot to say that the marathoner you posted about, Katherine Switzer, lives in my neck of the woods. She is a beautiful "nasty" woman! Not that I know her, but I've seen her profiled in our local news every so often.
Ruth, you're brave to sub in the spring. Here's something for the back of your mind; perhaps there is a MS English class who would want to partner with mine to share writing. If you think of it when you're there next time, and you want to ask, that would be awesome. I remembered the author of the book I read- Kathleen Norris. She wrote about them Dakotas in a way I can't really forget. However, it created a limited view. My students would also benefit from a broader view. This year is nearly over, especially for me since my recon is May 30, so it would have yo be for fall
Lilac- thanks for the post and reminder. Up early to get some chores done and then off to yoga.
-
Just beautiful Falconer. Thank you all for your kind words. Spent part of last night at the hospital with his sister, trying to convince her not to spend the night. Today is the day and it is going to be an incredibly hard day for all of us.
Hubby and I did go for a nice walk on the beach Thursday evening, followed up by a trip to the ice cream shop.
-
Thinking of you, Pat.
Falconer, what grade would you want to partner with? We are 6th-8th. Four of my subbing days in the spring are really actually fun days for me. I have a cool talk about Abraham Lincoln that I do for both 7th grade Houses when they are talking about the Civil War & I do the same for the 8th grade Geography classes; but I talk about Theodore Roosevelt, concentrating on what his time in the North Dakota Badlands meant to him (he said he would have never been president but for the time he spent here). It's a win/win/win because the teacher can take a day without doing sub plans, I can get paid for something that I would gladly do for free, and the kids get a day without homework!
I will do 'something' to exercise today, but haven't decided on the 'what' yet.
-
I got up at 6:30 this morning and baked two pies for our church bazaar tomorrow, walked 1.5 miles before 8:00am, had coffee with my girls - an Aussie & a lab/border collie mix, baked three dozen brownies to add to the three dozen I baked yesterday (all for the church). Now I can strip and remake the bed, sort laundry & do a load or two and finish hanging the new curtains in my bedroom. I don't know where this burst of energy has come from, but I'm taking advantage of it. This is the best I have felt in a long time!
I wish we had more emoticons as well as the cheer buttons mentioned in earlier posts.
-
Thinking of you Pat on this sad day.
90 minute special Body Combat class this morning, sweat was rolling off me. Unlike Velvey Poppy I have no energy left, it's all on the GGX floor but I need to get my butt into gear and do a little housecleaning, Someone turned the heat on here, my gosh I hope it's not a precursor for summer!!!
-
Ladies I have been MIA due to an injury. and finally starting back very gently. DH and I went to the forest preserve today for a walk. Well really I cant call it walking but more of a stroll because it took me nearly twice as long as it should.
Pat, I am thinking of you as you travel through this sad time. Hugs to you.
-
Ruth, your lessons sound fun and a nice day for your colleagues! I teach 8th grade so 7 or 8 would be great!
TwoHobbies- hope you're on the mend! -
Thinking of you Pat.
Hope you do heal quickly TwoHobbies!
Got in a lot of steps doing some spring cleaning today...then went for a short walk after all the cleaning, laundry, dusting.....swim tomorrow.
-
(((Pat)))
VelvetPoppy: you sound like me when I take steroids for a sinus infection! Your church will make a lot of money due to your energy.
TH: Sorry you had an injury. Glad you are mending and able to get out for a stroll at the forest preserve. I bet it was beautiful.
Pushed mowed for 75 minutes today - luckily dh was home to help me. Then I stayed in the yard for another 2 hours pulling weeds, trimming, etc.
-
Pat so sorry. Hugs and prayers.
Wonderland. . .who can turn down a sale like that.
Exercise yesterday was dreadmill, today watering and fertilizing new garden plants while Dh planted some more.
Scottie
-
Thinking of you, Pat.
Hope you are doing better, TwoHobbies.
Falconer, I will PM you.
Wonderland, my sister says it is too broiling hot in NC right now.
I did an hour of toning & took a walk. The weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse tomorrow......the 's' word (snow) was even mentioned by one forecaster!
-
Ruth: It was broiling hot yesterday but luckily there was a breeze blowing that helped cool me off some. I was a hot, filthy mess when I finished!
Today it's cold and rainy. You gotta love spring! Hot one day and cold the next. I plan to watch movies, read my book, and eat ice cream.
-
It is 30 degrees with a brisk wind, so I am staying inside too! I did a DVD called Cardio Dance Party and am now going to read a book while watching the Minnesota Twins.....too lazy for any projects (other than maybe dragging my winter clothes back out ).
-
I asked for a new fitness tracker for my birthday. Looking st the Fitbit Flex 2 or the Fitbit Alta. I have an almost 2 year old Flex. For the most part I've been happy with it. I like the trim size of both these models. What does everyone use? And why?
