15 year Survivor of Stage 4 BC !!!
Dec 14 was the start of my 15th year of Stage 4 BC. Original mets were to my liver. And I had a recurrence in my chest and neck 5 years ago....to 8 nodes.
I am currently on Kadcyla and still kicking!
Love to all brave survivors! We can do it!!!!!!

Congrats! Would you mind summarizing what you've been doing for 15 years for tx? I would find it very helpful. No need to write a super long post, just basic info would be great!!!

Claire-chemo and prayers have kept me going. A/C and Taxotere the first year. Gemzar and Herceptin for liver mets for a year. Herceptin alone while I was in remission for 6 years.
Falodex for 5 years, but I stopped that because of severe back spasms. And Kadcyla for the last 3 years.
I try to follow a heathful diet but cheat a lot.
( No special diet trends or juicing which my nurses have told me is dangerous to my liver which has been compromised by my BC mets to my liver 15 years ago.
I do stretches in the morning, but unable to use my treadmill for a year after getting a torn menicus over a year ago.
I am definitely slowing down, but then I am 67 and elderly. And after 15 years of chemo, the fatigue is pretty bad. Afternoon naps do help me.
Perhaps the fact that I have been a volunteer trainer and coordinator for 14 years for Reach to Recovery of the ACS has helped. I have talked to hundreds of ladies about Stage 4 BC and now recurrence. And I run a BC support group at my local hospital.
Helping others helps me.

Wow. Thank you, Denny123. Very helpful. Here's to 15 more good years! And BTW I don't believe 67 is elderly! Baby boomers forever....

Just seeing this very inspiring post and I hope many more ladies, especially those recently dx'd, do as well! Congratulations, Denny, and best wishes for many, many more years. Thanks for sharing. Deanna

Great news, Denny, and indeed you are an inspiration!
-
Dennys, congratulations and many more years of NED!!!
May I ask why would juicing be bad for the liver?
-
So amazing! It sounds a fairy tale in daily life. Hope you have a happy ending.
-
That's so awesome Denny! Happy Dance for many more! And I agree 67 is not "elderly" just mature!
-
Thanks Ladies!
Lolis - My chemo nurses said that juicing would make my liver have to work too hard. No idea why, except that maybe with real food, it would be digested in the stomach and intestines, but juice would pass directly to the liver ????
I never aked them to explain further since I don't believe in any alternative "cures".

wonderful and inspiring as i have just started on the mbc treadmill
A super trooper congratulations!

Had a CT Scan 1 week ago because I had swollen lymph nodes in my right groin. My family Dr. gave me my report that said there is a 9 mm spot on the liver and one on my T4 vertebrae. Also have a lot of fibrosis in my abdomen with fluid on left lung. Was diagnosed 15 years ago and have been doing well since. This is a shocker! waiting to hear for a consult to Cancer Clinic. had no symptoms of anything except I was getting short of breath when climbing hills or stairs.
I'm just so torn up and can't concentrate on anything else. Retired in Sept/16 and had so many plans to just relax. Hoping for some positive vibes.

Ginger45, I'm hoping that your docs can freeze any of that stupid c in its tracks for a good many more years. It can happen. Let us know how it goes. BIG hug.

I'm currently in treatment for mbc. I'm a little freaked out because I didn't even make two years from my original diagnosis of stage lll, estrogen and her2+ cancer. I'm trying to be positive but when I am sick from treatment, I wonder how many times can I do this.

Penny, You will surprise yourself with how much strength you will pull out of yourself. Some days will be worse than others but you will spring back and keep on keeping on...
