Gardening, anyone?

Wench- Europe is great in the summer. Go earlier though as the Europeans often have vacation later in the summer and it can be very busy. My first time in Europe was in June 1994 and I went to France, Monte Carlo, Italy, Greece and England. I did a Mediterranean cruise as part of my time there from Monte Carlo to Athens with stops along the way and LOVED it. I also did Italy in the fall one time too and also very nice.

How nice you have an invite from a sister in Australia. We will want pics if you go!

Also, after my sister and I finished treatment in 2013 (me in March, her in July) we went to the Big Island of Hawaii for a week/10 days. It is really great to take a trip to give yourself permission to start enjoying life again. Vacations will help with that.

Lucy- I love color and since I live in a place that is pretty brown (with touches of green in the summer as well as amazing colors in the sky), I focus a lot on putting color in the yard. My fav nursery has the best pottery, many of those pots are from that location. I did not buy any the other day, but was eyeing one. They are pricey, so I usually wait until they go on sale a bit. Thanks for the complements!

KB, what fun your chickens sound. They know where to go to get the good stuff to eat! I wanted to get chickens so we could have fresh eggs all the time. My DH brings eggs home that a co-worker gives us. I've found that I can't eat fresh eggs for some reason so I've canceled the getting chickens idea :-/

Jazzy, my DH had applied for jobs in Italy the past few years and he talked about all the places we could visit from there. We spent 12 days in Hawaii in 2003. HD had to go there for his work and I got to tag along with him. He'd tease me about going to bed early. It was 4am our time! We had a great time. It was the first and last time ever that I almost got car sick driving the coastal roads on Maui. Our drive started in day light and ended late at night. I knew the cliff was on my side of the road and DH was driving faster than I was comfortable with. lol

An Alaskan cruise sounds like fun but I'd like to be off the boat more for sightseeing. I'll have to stop by a travel agent and pick up some brochures to see what's where on the way to Lucy's house

We're expecting some storms late tonight with high winds possible so I took a picture of my Magnolia Jane before the storm blew all of the flowers off as well as our old apple tree that's just starting to bloom. I was tyding up the irises, glads and tulips when I noticed my rose bushthay I planted 2 years ago that had died is growing this year. I asked DH if he planted a new one there before I got to excited and he said nope, he hasn't touched it. Very weird for it to die off then come back 2 years later but I'm glad it did! And before I bought a new one to plant there.

After setting up my small 10 bale straw garden DH decided after I explained to him how it works that I need to have more to plant... so he sent me to the nursery to get 20 more bales of straw this morning. He's doing all of the heavy lifting (with his tractor) so I just said alrighty then!

I forgot how much arguing goes on between Mama and Papa Goose once she starts to make hernest. I'm surprised she doesn't beat him over the head with her wing to get him to shut up! Goodness gracious he's loud!

I'm completely wiped out from over doing it in the yard/garden this past weekend. Ugh! I feel like someone let the air out of my balloon. Who would do such a thing? Hopefully it'll be re-inflalated by this weekend!

A little spring greeting from my backyard. I found this wonderful pot of tulips on Monday at Sam's Club (were not opened yet), and they started opening up yesterday and wide open today. I will find a good place to plant the bulbs this fall.......

Lovely arrangement Jazzy. Our Sam's Club just got their outdoor plants set up. I caught a glimpse while picking up a scrip today. Will have to find an excuse to go back Saturday to shop the plants. I'm sure Dh will growl as he already has 4 lilacs, 4 purple roses and several small plants to put in the ground.

Today's haul. . .Dh and I resting before he starts planting. I'm exhausted and we only went to Home Depot and one local nursery.

The two palms and the two knockout roses are replacements for ones that died out or we lost to the beavers. The native azaleas will go in the shade garden around our new magnolia.
