SO wish they would look past 10 years....I just hit 10 years so at this point, none of it is reassuring.

I hit the 5 year milestone last August. I agree Wallycat the stats can be deceiving because the numbers focus on 5 years instead of beyond. It's also troubling especially when you hear about the beast coming back after 10 years for some women but it is what it is.

I asked the 5 year+ ladies in my support group at church if they felt more optimistic or no different and none of them said they were optimistic. That's pretty disappointing. I think we will all always have the fear factor because we are branded with the C word and nothing will change that regardless.

I am a perpetual optimist so even though I still have misgivings I am more confident even after just 5 years. My oncologist believes, for what that's worth, my chances are better than good of surviving even beyond the 10 year mark. My radiologist said my Oncotype score of 11 is also a plus factor.

I have a mammo scheduled next month. I'm already in anxiety mode but that will never change.

Wallycat, I'm with you. I am now 14 years NED, but I was 38 when I was diagnosed. So technically, my risk for bc in my remaining breast is now starting to go up. I had pretty good cancerversary scanxiety in January, and at this point don't really have any providers left who know me that are still practicing. I would have gone in just to touch base if I did.
