got my results....this is what my report read:

Ultrasound guided core biopsy of the hypoechoic 7 x 6 x 6mm lesion within the left breast. Pathology demonstrates benign findings including fibrocystic changes and focal periductal chronic inflammation.

Benign pathology is concordant. Bilateral mammogram in one years time is recommended.

When the nurse practitioner called me regarding the results I asked her who would I talk to or see regarding taking out the benign mass, her reply (very rude tone) "why would you want to even do that? Breast surgery is very Trumatic and I don't know any doctor that would even want touch to you for something that small!"

Nicky192, how may we help? (other than to say sorry you had an unsympathetic and rude response from a medical professional) It doesn't really sound like a "lump" as much as an "area of concern". Is that correct or am I wrong? While there are benign findings that are more typically removed for specific reasons, there are also many which are left in place (once they've been established as benign findings and your baseline images have been retained for future comparison). What are the concerns behind your question about wanting the benign mass removed? I think it is reasonable to better understand the future risks associated with your specific benign finding, your personal risk of bc (including family history etc) and then being able to weigh that against the risks associated with the surgery itself.
