please help

I had a horrific reaction to my 28 rads (with bolus and on Xeloda) - a large open wound that would not heal until we started spacing the treatments out to once per week. It really extended and delayed everything and I couldn't leave the house much due to bulky wound dressings and silvadene ointment all over my breast and armpit.

The good news: no infection, and now after 3.5 weeks since the last zap, the area is no longer draining, bleeding, or peeling. It is definitely healing and I don't need a special bra or bandages anymore. I am following instructions to use lotions three times a day. No discomfort, itching, or pain. PT has helped with tightness.

The bad news: My breast skin is still very discolored - dark tan in places, pinkish white in others, patchy, looks horrible, and it makes me cry to see it. I need some reassurance that this will fade during the coming months. I know it's a gradual process but please tell me that it isn't permanent? My exchange to implants is in 6 months and I have been looking forward to having more "normal" looking boobs, but now I am so worried they will be forever scarred by the radiation burns. Will it go away? Or if not, are there cosmetic dermatologists who can make the skin look the same color? I am feeling hopeless and miserable.
