Lost my furbaby
We had to put down my kitty, Tiger, the one in my avatar this last Wednesday. She turned 19 in September. Weve had her since she was 4 weeks old. Shed been suffering from asthma this year. Wednesday morning I thought she was just having an asthma attack, but obviously it wasnt. Im very happy my husband was home, and stayed to take us to the vet for the procedure. The house seems way too quiet without her.

Stef,
So sorry to hear that you have lost beautiful Tiger. My pets mean the world to me. Perhaps visiting the Rainbow's Bridge would bring some comfort to you.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat. I was never an pet person (other than fish & stuffed animals) until the past few years. I don't know what I would do without my two dogs! Take Care!

Oh Stef-
I am so sorry for your loss. My first kitty lived to be 16 or 17. When we lost her I swore I kept seeing her out of the corner of my eye. I was just so use to her being in her favorite places that my mind still "saw" her. I cried my eyes out. What cured me was 2 of the sweetest sister kitties you have ever seen. I went to the pet store to buy fish food and there was a lady there on the sidewalk crying because she had to find homes for them. I scooped them up and never looked back. No animal will ever "replace" one that you have lost, but new pets do help fill the empty spot in your heart. You will know when the time is right.
Big hugs

Stef, I am so sorry about Tiger. Try to remember the 19 wonderful years that you had with her and all the special moments and then hold them close to your heart. I completely understand your sorrow. They are family...

Stef-
I am so sorry you have lost your dear Tiger. She must have been a happy, well-treated kitty - 19 yrs is a long life for a furry child.
I know how sad you must feel right now.
hugs,

Dear Stef:
My heart goes out to you, knowing the pain of this
as we all do, with pets.
I am glad your hubby was with you as well. Your house
will feel empty. I waited a year, then got another
kitty. Life without kitties, is not life for me. However,
time to grieve was needed.
Sending you a hug
and at this time
all good wishes for
a Happy 2007.

Stephanie,
I'm so very sorry to hear about your precious Tiger. But I am glad she had a mother like you. May sweet memories of her will bring you some comfort.
Hugs, -
Thanks so much everyone. Yes, I first saw the Rainbow Bridge on this site. When I was saying goodbye to her, I told her I'd see her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge
Kats, thank you for the graphic and words. I started crying, that is how I want to picture Tiger -- sitting on an angel's lap.
When I was first diagnosed, one of my thoughts/fears was that I would outlive my cat and she was 16 at that time. She was definitely "my" cat and at that time my husband traveled alot for work.
Yes, she was well cared for, and spoiled. At her age, it was in the back of my mind a lot, but still not ready for it. -
Stef...so sorry on the loss of Tiger. She made a very good age.
Our animals do not live as long as they should. I just wish they'd all go twice as long as they do.
I really understand what it is like to lose a dearly loved pet, just horrible, there are no words of comfort that really help, they never leave you, always there in your mind.
I lost a little old dog, he was 14, in November, I am still 'looking' for him in his favorite places, it takes ages for the rawness to go. Isabella. -
So sorry Stef,
I have a 19 yr old cat, Mama Kitty, and a 2 yr old named Baby Kitty, I would be lost without them. Our furbabies are so precious to us.
I feel your loss,

Sorry about your Tiger. I remember when I lost my Tigger. He was 16. He had been thru 9 homes, 2 marriages, another pet and a baby ...... he and I had been thru the ringer together. I was so sad he died in my yard instead of with me by his side. I am glad you got to say good bye to your faithful friend.
-
So sorry Stef,
I feel your loss. He was a very fortunate cat to have such a loving owner. Pets are such wonderful part of life and the unconditional love and attention they give is irreplacable. I lost Jamie,my pet chihuahua last week on Christmas Eve., he was 16 but it was unexpected. I miss him so much.

Stef, I'm also sorry for your loss. We had a very unique orange cat, "Wilbur" from 1984-2002. After he was gone, he came back to visit me in dreams every few months or so. So I think you will be seeing her again periodically. Try to make a list of the funny things she did that were unique to her. It is so easy to forget otherwise. --Donna in VA

DonnaR---
I am so glad that you mentioned that your Wilbur came to "see" you in dreams.....I have had several pets (my dog and a feral cat that i took care of for years) that went over the rainbow bridge, come to visit me a bunch of times in my dreams. They always seem to answer a question or tell me something. I find it very comforting.
peace and hugs,

Stef, I'm so sorry about the loss of your furbaby. My heart breaks for you. I have a precious furbaby dog that owns my heart, and I just think of losing him and tears begin to fall. I'm just so sorry. I know you have years and years of beautiful memories, and hopefully that will comfort you some. I'm sure that Tiger is sitting on an angel's lap still watching over you.
Hugs,

Stef,
I am so sorry you lost Tiger. I have lost many wonderful pets over the years (3 dogs and 4 cats) and I know how hard it is. One thing that has always helped me through is that I know I gave those furbabies wonderful lives, never wanting for food or affection or a warm spot to sleep. I am sure you did the same for Tiger. One thing I have noticed is that when we get a new furbaby (we always keep our cat count at 3), the new kid has a lot of the traits of the one they replaced - example: only one of my cats scratches the couch, she replaced another cat who also was the only cat that scratched the couch. Another example is the cat who replaced my favorite is talkative like the one she replaced, even though she is a different breed. We joke about the little "ghosts" around the house, I feel like the lost furbaby is directing the new furbaby.
I hope the pain subsides and you can find solace in a new furbaby - they never completely replace the old one, but they get you to love them just as much.
Take care -
Oh, I am so sorry for your loss, they''re such great companions..
My heart goes out to you
peace

So sorry you lost your fur baby. 19 years old that is amazing. No wonder you miss her.
Kathy -
I hadn't heard the term fur baby until I read it on these boards. What a lovely way to refer to our pets.
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I had 3 18 year old cats who I had to put to sleep within a year or so. One lost her marbles, a stroke I think, and two had cancer. Mine told me that it was time for them to go, with some help from the vet to alleviate any more suffering. It is a very sad time.
Mine had a good long life. Time heals eventually but you never forget them.
Best wishes
Janette
