Which Tamoxifen brand do you use? Mylan? Activis? Watson?

It seems people have different side effects depending upon the fillers that are used in each different brand. I'd love to hear what you guys have tried and what you have been happy or unhappy with?

I heard Teva was good but called the pharmacy and they said Teva was bought out or something and the same formulation is no longer made?

I picked up my first bottle of Mylan brand. Haven't tried it yet. Too scared. Looking forward to hearing what has, and hasn't worked well for you gals.

    I think mine is Watson, but I'd have to double-check. That sounds right to me. I haven't had any significant side effects yet, other than it's drying me out a little. The pharmacy used an unopened bottle of pills right from the manufacturer for my first fill, which had a couple broken pills in it. I wasn't impressed with that, but the refill was in a pharmacy bottle so they counted them out and looked at them which was better. I still have the broken pills and haven't decided if I'm going to take them back to the pharmacy and fuss, or just let it go.

    My insurance tried to make me go mail-order, but I was able to opt out. I'm thankful for that. I'd rather just go pick up my pills and not be worrying if the mail would get to me (we have an awful post office where I live).

    No long at all...maybe 5 weeks. I'll check the bottle when I get home!

    Have you been on it already and just changed brands, or are you about to officially start taking it?

    the manufacturer is actually called Mayne...Not sure why Watson sounds familiar!

    The generics are being consolidated. A friend in the pharma industry says that Mayne is likely to remain available, and keep its current formulation.

    I am getting ready to officially start taking it but I want to take the former Teva brand which I'm trying to figure out is now made by Mayne or activis or the two of them together. My bottle says that activis is the manufacturer and Mayne is the distributor but I'm wondering if the formulation is the same as the former Teva formulation.

    9lives70, I'm trying to figure that same thing out too. I started on Teva, and over the last few script refills they gave me Mylan. I seemed to have had a lot more side effects, so today I asked the pharmacist if they could give me Teva again. My bottle says Activis, but that it should be the same as Teva. They gave me a code, and it looks the same...so I'm trying to remain hopeful.

    My two cents...if you have a side effect with the brand you are on try another one. One brand gave me very blurry vision and short term memory loss. The Teva of 2016 was a good one for me. I'm trying to figure out which formulation in 2017 will be a good one for me.

    i've been on tamoxifen for almost a year now. Much better side effects than Anastrazole but I still have middle finger joint pain only. Trying to contact Mylan to see why. Joint where my finger connects to my palm and the next one going outward are affected on both hands. I cannot straighten my middle fingers. Very strange I think. On Anastrazole, my wrists, thumbs and middle fingers were all affected. Again on both hands. It took about 6+ months for the pain to leave my wrists and thumbs but it is much better now for those 2 areas

    I took Watson brand for a little over a year. Lots of aches and pains in my hips, back, shoulders and neck and pretty chronic constipation, but not a lot of hot flashes. When I refilled the beginning of March the pharmacy gave me Mylan brand. I decided to take a Tamoxifen break in March (the whole month of March). Most of my aches and pains stopped or improved greatly by the end of the month . The constipation issue cleared up within 10 days of stopping.

    I started the new bottle of Mylan on April 1st. So far I seem to have fewer aches, but time will tell. The pains I experienced with Watson seemed to increase the longer I was on it-hence the need for a Tamoxifen vacation. I'm having fewer issues with my bowels on the Mylan, but way more hot flashes (although that may be the weather-seems like the hot flashes were more frequent in the warmer months last year too-and it's already been pretty hot here this year.)

    I've been on Mylan since Oct '16. So far so good. Mild hot flashes, some brain fog and NO weight gain. Good luck to you!
