We had a nice round of rain yesterday (april showers bring may flowers) and I finished pruning the remaining grasses and shrubs this morning. The air is cool again, and no hard freezes but also doing some covering at night. More rain on Tuesday!

Scottie- have you seen these rock covers that you can use to cover pipes, covers, etc.? They sell them in many home improvement stores, this is a site that also has them.

I have one of those in my yard too but it is is in the front between the house and a large rosemary bush, so not that visible unless you walk to the front door. I have thought about getting one of these though.

Jazzy. . .the giant one would probably fit over it. It's pricey but Dh might consider it because it's an eyesore. I wonder if our local home improvement stores sell something like this so we could get it on sale.

Found this resin screen on the same site your listed. It's only $90 so Dh and I will look this weekend at Home Depot and Lowes. If not there then may order it. This would work and we could plant climbing flowers in front of it, I think. Resin Privacy Screen

We can't place any actual large landscape rocks around it. Anything we use has to be immediately removable. Sadly we lost a good sized maple tree to the sewer authority about 3 years ago. We knew that our landscaper had planted it in the easement but we had no problem for years. They they came through and cleared all the trees in the county easements.

Scottie, beautiful blooms! Wild azalea? I've never seen one before. Our neighbors lake has a bazillion geese on their side. Our two will take their babies over there to be socially "trained". Last year they had 9 babies, it's always amazing to see them for the first time and count how many they have. They all return in early winter for a reunion. Our pond is way to small to support Mama, Papa and 9 kids with mates! I'm sorry you lost your maple tree, I hate to watch my DH cut any of ours down. He's been clearing a small patch so the sun can reach the earth and I can spread some wild flower seeds in the area. He tells me trees? Or flowers? Hhmmm

Jazzy, we got a lot of rain here last night and expecting more today. I'm hoping it holds off or lets up for our fish delivery today. We restock our pond twice a year Spring and Fall. This time we're getting some golden shad, silver shad, fathead minnow, rosy minnow, hybrid striped bass, 2 baby carp, hybrid bluegill and sunfish. Most of our orders are feeder fish to keep our big fish getting bigger. We had 9 paddlefish added 2 years ago, I'd love to see how big they are now. They get up to 5' and 50 lbs but they are bottom feeders and the only way to catch one is to net it, oh well. I'll keep wishing I see one lo

Good evening everyone. We have a storm moving in at the moment. I love storms! We just got a tornado warning for our area. We get them all the time so nothing to worry about 🤞

Lucy, we have 4 benches set out around the pond with logs to put poles in. We also have a 2 seater paddle boat I hope to be able to use this year. I had my DBMX last summer and it just sat in the water. We'll be putting our fishing boat out into the water in a few weeks, we hope.

I had some tubs set out around the yard to catch some of this rain in but my DH brought them all in. I have an appointment tomorrow for a port flush, I'm going to do some shopping for my straw bale garden while I'm in town. I had planned to go get bales this morning but my truck bed is full of wood and I didn't have the energy to empty it out. Lo

Found this at Sam's Club today. My indoor plants do not do well, except for my silk ones. Lol. So bought this one to replace my success which have all bit the dust. I used to have Christmas cactus and have never seen this one - Spring Cactus. Fingers crossed that it will survive.

Good morning friends- I finished putting some of my flowers I got yesterday in pots and in the ground. The weather seems stable with warmer days and lows in the 40's, which keeps us safe from frost. I did some mulching of the gardens out front too, more work to do there. A pic of some of the pots included below.

But here is an amazing story during my potting time this morning. I was out in the backyard working on these pots when I heard a flapping sound then some chirping and thought some birds were in the yard trying to mate. I looked up and was stunned to see what I think was a kestral falcon that had come down and nailed a small bird on the ground. This was literally feet away from me and was stunned by the sight, and the kestral was surprised when I looked up too (guess I was not moving much?) Anyways, he grabbed his prey and took off. Now I will say this is not the first time I have seen the area birds of prey do this around the hood, but will say it was the first time one did it right in front of me! Wowza!

Lori- what time of the year are you thinking of traveling? Soon here in the spring, this summer, in the fall? Depending on the time of year, I can make some suggestions to you as I have traveled a lot around the US for work. My thought is you might enjoy a good road trip for one starting idea......

DH and I are planning raised beds for this spring/summer; we purchased our little house at the end of August and didn't have a chance to do much of anything in the yard last year. We've just started a bunch of vegetable seeds indoors, and we're gonna do herbs in boxes - can't wait!!!

We've been working on our garden plot all weekend. We've got it cleared, sprayed with Roundup, mowed and my first bales moved into place. I will be getting more straw bales tomorrow. I'm so excited! My DH has his doubts that it'll work but I'm going for it anyway!
