Another "Spiculated Mass" on MRI
Hi, i found a lump myself last month had it biopsied and it came back as IDC 1.3 cm. Estrogen and Progesterone positive. Should get HER2 results back tomorrow. Just switched doctors, initially diagnosed at a Military Treatment Facility. Today I went to have an MRI and was told that there was another spiculated mass found in the same breast that more than likely is also cancerous. Original one at 8:00 position and now one at 3:00 position closer to chest wall. I was asked to come back again later and have an ultrasound. They can barely see it on an ultrasound so more than likely a biopsy via MRI. The physicians assistant was the one who told me the news. I should have more news tomorrow. What exactly does this mean? Same type of cancer you think in another location? Probably can't opt for a lumpectomy now I am assuming. Although I am heavily endowed. This roller coaster ride is killing me. All I want to do is cry. I was only given 10 Klonipens Sp? I have already gone through 8 already one a day to function at night around my children. They do work, hopefully by next week I will know exactly what is going on.

Thinking of you. I just had my breast MRI as well as the mammogram showed microcalcifications in the lower half of my breast and a 1/4 cm speculated mass at 10 oclock- was biopsied and also IDC. Don't know about those microcalcifications could be another cancer forming, in which case there goes the lumpectomy. YOu are probably taking clonazepam, it is an anti anxiety drug. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for more. I am now on sleeping pills (never had any drugs in my life except for the odd advil for a migraine). What a ride as you mention. someways would like to fast forward to next year but am afraid that I wont be here or will be on my last legs. I have negative thoughts a lot these days. Yes I cry a lot as well. I find continuing to work and keep myself busy helps. you wont know the results until they biopsy it.
Hopefully after the surgery we will get more positive information. I hope for you too my new bc friend!

Hi TPralph, thank you for the kind words! They really do help. I went in today for my second biopsy. I did ask my general practitioner for a refill on the clonazepam and he reluctantly gave me 21 pills. Same as you never take pills but my anxiety climbs in the evening and they really do help. My mind is racing again because I am doing some searching and maybe I have multifocal tumors? Looks like lumpectomy is going to be ruled out, I guess I will know for sure when I meet again with the surgeon next week. I have a feeling when we fast forward to next year we are going to be okay. I am new to this site but If I can figure it out I will add you to my friend list and follow you. Hoping the best for both of us. We need to buckle up strap ourselves in and get ready for this bumpy ride. We can do it!

Just got the mri results, looks like the mass is 2.5cm. fair bit larger than u/s showed. My to, doing a lot of Dr. Googling which I shouldn't but found some info that mri may overestimate size. (I HOPE SO). Also have mild to moderate background parenchymal enhancement. Not sure what that means in the end.
Anyhow I see my surgeon as well on Monday so whooo hooo. grab the reigns!
Ya friend me we can coach each other through this mess!

kcmc. Just reread my MRI there is another area that they will biopsy NXT Friday. Some kind of BB enhancing mass 1.1 by point is 8 cm. What the heck is that? Any biopsy to see if my dx now multicentric. Probably mastectomy now too. I just hope to God it hasn't metastasized. I am kind of freaking out now too. Was pretty good for past two weeks until results from MRI.

Tpralph, I know I just started getting use to the idea and was feeling positive about the whole thing and then they found another mass. This one closer to the chest wall. Did not find it on mammogram and just a shadow on ultra sound. I had the MRI on Monday, Biopsy on Tuesday and results should be back tomorrow. At least this time I don't have to wait 13 days for results, I just recently changed doctors which is a good thing. My anxiety is through the roof and all I want to do is crawl back into bed. I have to snap out of it. Today is going to be sunny and 50 degrees so I think I might go take a walk maybe I will feel better. I will be thinking about you and say a prayer for both of us that nothing has metastasized. Sending hugs and good vibes your way. I will be following you and I'll let you know what is going on here too. - Monica

KCMC & Tpralph; Sorry both of you are here but glad you found each other. Your next year won't be as fun as it might have been, but you will get through this. If you look around the site you will see that many women have gone before you and made it through to the other side. I won't tell you not to google or bing, but understand that there is a lot of misinformation as well as information out there and you can come here to get answers.

I had a similar experience. I was just starting to get used to the idea that I would have a single mastectomy I got the results of my MRI that showed a mass on the other side. It was shocking and did make me worry that the cancer might have metastasized. If you look at my signature, though, you'll see that although it was also cancer, it hadn't spread and I didn't even need chemo. Give yourself time to adjust. Getting outside and taking a walk is a great idea to help with the anxiety.

Thank you Summer Angel. I like the name by the way! Yes, I took that walk today. Scrubbed both bathrooms and my kitchen and started to organize spring/ summer clothes for both my boys. Trying to be productive. Heading to my therapist tomorrow to talk. When I come out of her office I feel so much better. I appreciate you commenting and letting me know your situation. It really does help knowing I am not alone and things always don't turn out bad. Holding on to that. Thank you again!

Cive, you would be proud of me, haven't googled yet lol! At the beginning of this journey I did google inspiring stories and came across a womans blog who mentioned this site. I haven't looked elsewhere since. I am going to keep in touch with TPralph and we will get through this together! - Monica

That Spiculated Mass is another malignant tumor. Received the results back on Friday, the surgical oncologist said it is a multifocal cancer in the same quadrant but the two masses are 6 cm apart. He said I will probably have to have chemotherapy but won't be able to meet with the medical oncologist till after surgery. Ugh! Hope there is no lymph node involvement.

I'm sorry to see that it's another tumor.
Don't count on definitely needing chemo yet, though. If your tumors are low risk, like mine, you may not need it. Take care!
