iceleta...beautiful orchids

Icietla. . .Beautiful orchids. Are you growing them? Container gardening totally counts.
Dh laid about 75 bales of pine straw this past weekend. I supervised by watching a bit from my upstairs screen porch. I can't wait to get back outside even if I can't do anything other than walk about for another month. I totally have spring fever.
These are not the best pics as cell phone through screen but these are my lilacs, which bloom twice a year and my two hollies and magnolia which await Dh for planting. Dh also needs to plant my bareroot new lilacs and hostas which arrived from groupon. Hopefully all will be planted this weekend.

Bluebonnets...the state flower of Texas
-
Hi everyone! I'm just trying to catch up! Taking names and making notes!
I love the kitties! Beautiful babies!
I will definitely take pics of my bale garden. I'm already praying I get something from it and I haven't even started yet!
I'll do some stem cuttings from my Christmas cactus before transplanting in a bigger pot... just in case
We have a small grove of ??? trees. Are you kidding me? Not a good time for chemobrain to set in! Anyway, we have male and female trees so we'll get whatever kInd of fruit they produce... Seriously?! I'll remember at about 3 am what kind of trees they are. LOL
Hugs to All!

Beautiful pics! The Bluebonnets make me miss home! Love, love, love azaleas
-
Yes, bluebonnets. I lived in TX for awhile and always loved the spring there.
-
When we lived in Texas the highway dept would hand out seeds to land owners to plant in fields that were visible from the road. We would drive to the hill country to see them. Indian paintbrush, which is red-orange, blooms at the same time and it's gorgeous.
-
Wren- oh yes, I have seen fields of the two of those together. Indian paintbrush is my fav wildflower and grows in the mountains here.
-
Took a picture tonight during my evening walk of my neighbors lilacs that are in bloom. My neighbors to the east, north and west all have lilac bushes, so it is most aromatic around here right now!
-
Jazzy, beautiful lilacs, I so miss the smell of lilacs. We have a ton of honeysuckle on our property. I have to cut so much of it down every year. It's pretty to look at and the smell is devine but it's so invasive!
Wren, Texas is home for me, I miss everything about it. I also dislike herds of people being able to see everything we're doing. One of the reasons I love being so far out in the country is that we don't have to worry about our neighbors. We even go chunky dunkin' in our pool and pray no deliveries are made during that time. Chunky dunkin' is what we do, we used to go skinny dipping but we're much older and fatter now!
Icietla, container gardening counts for sure! Beautiful orchids, my all time favorite flowers. My DH is going to start getting my garden area ready for my straw bale garden this weekend. I'm praying I get more than weeds to grow!
Scottie, I understand completely how it feels to only be able to walk the area. I spent all last summer watching the weeds take over my garden. I told my PS no TE exchange until winter sets in! I plan to enjoy my garden and my pool this year.
Healing hugs to All

WenchLori- yay for signs of spring in your area. Fruit trees coming out is always a good sign. Love the violets too, how beautiful!
-
Jazzy, it's definitely my favorite time of the year. Today it's back to cold temps and then next week it should be back to warmer temps again. It's a never ending what season next kind of winter/spring.
-
Lori~ Your spring pictures are a glimpse of what I will see in a month. We just got ANOTHER snow storm here in northern Vermont..
Enjoy every minute!
-
Lori ..Beautiful photos ..A real breath of spring 🙂
-
lcietla,
I look at potted orchid plants with lovely blooms like yours and feel no way able to get a plant to rebloom at home.
Scottie,
You're lucky that the lilacs bloom twice a year. The azelea has strikingly bright colors.
Jazzy,
I see myself sitting on the log surrounded by the beautiful bluebonnets.
WenchLori,
For you............Spring Has Sprung!!!
No April Fools' Day prank............so far 5 inches of heavy snow.

Good morning friends and happy April 1st! We are getting some rounds of moisture right now, just went out to get the paper and a cold rain is falling. Always a good thing here in the desert to have moisture and we had an abnormally warm winter (since late Jan), which usually means late moisture in the spring and also can have more of these bouts cool round of weather. Snow up in the mountains and further north this weekend.
Almost done with the spring pruning and brush clear away. Got the pampas grass taken care of yesterday before the rains came. Just need to finish pruning a large chaste tree in one corner and then going to remulch everything. I scored a deal at Home Depot on the red mulch I use a couple weeks ago, three huge bags for $10!
Teka- wow, that does look like a heavy wet snow. It is pretty but also probably not that appreciated right about now?
-
Happy April Fools Day everyone!
Teka, so not an April Fools prank! It is beautiful but not needed! Everyone further North must have gotten their snow and ours as well! We've gotten maybe a total of 5" in all the flurries we've had this year. I was probably the only one disappointed with such little snow here.
Gypsy, the storms just keep on coming for you as welldon't they?! I have family and friends in Vermont. They have been posting pictures on FB of all the snow they've gotten. I can't remember exactly where they live in Vermont?? Chemo brain is alive and well in Bloomfield Indiana!
-
Spring is coming. These are from my front yard.
The plum tree sprouted in our back yard. DH moved it to the front.
-
Luv all the spring pics. Teka sorry about the snow. No fun in April but pretty. We got none this year. Lori our weather is back and forth now. What's the old saying. . .April showers bring spring flowers. . .
Got out a little bit today, finally. Couple of cell pics -pink dogwood and formosa azeleas - now back to resting. Ughhh! The weather is gorgeous here today. Surgery bites!
Scottie
