Metastasis- sclerotic lesion

I was recently diagnosed IDC grade 2, surgery is in 3 days. Scans for metastasis shows clear lungs and organs but concerns on bone scan and follow up CT. Two sclerotic lesions have been found measuring 0.5 and 0.3 cm on L4 and S1. Has the cancer metastasized? If so, how will this change treatment? Right now I am doing lumpectomy Thursday with 5 weeks radiation and chemo to be decided based on nodes and oncotype

    Sclerotic lesions can be benign.

    I have sacrum and T5 and have had the 'works' - we just observing at present

    Did they light up on the bone scan as well as been reported on CT?

    What does your oncologist think?

    Sending positive thoughts and prayers. I have some sclerotic lesions and know how much it stresses you.

    yes showed on both. I don't have an oncologist yet. Just GP and general surgeon

    Hi JB, have you considered asking your GP for a referral to a breast specialist? I assume you are in Burlington so you should have fairly easy access to specialists in Hamilton or even in Toronto if it comes to that. For what it's worth, I would strongly recommend that you have your surgery done by a breast surgeon. Please feel free to send me a private message.

    my surgeon is a general surgeon who specializes in breast cancer. The recommendations over many years are amazing. I'm in great hands. Surgury in 2 days. Radiation will be at juravinsky.

    hi sorry you have metastatic query

    Sometimes tumour/breast removal is not recommended if it has metastatised

    Hormone status is also needed to determine therapy required

    As other post stated perhaps second oponion from breast cancer specialist would answer the question you have posted

    I have read that mets to bone usually is sternum / ribs. So hopefully you are ok.

    bone scans will also light up for areas of osteoarthritis.
