Root canal treatment and breast cancer

Options

I read this article about association of breast cancer and root canal treatment of teeth. I too had RCT Rt teeth about 15 yrs back and I had Rt Ca breast 2.5 yrs back.

I am having tooth ache in left side now and am worried alot.

I need your experiences and suggestions whether I should get RCT again or just extract...

NEP, what you read is not true and you won't find that myth on any reputable medical site-only quacks believe that. Root canals and dental work in general are not "associated" with, nor do they cause breast vancer.

I've never had a root canal and got breast cancer; my twin had a root canal in her 20s and has never had breast cancer. Go figure.

Last year had my first root canal, 4 years after BC diagnosis. Nothing suprises me as far as health links and cancer. So much to left to learn.

I never had a root canal before being diagnosed with breast cancer but read afterwards, when I needed a root canal that they could cause inflammation and possibly be linked to breast cancer. I did some research and decided that this is not true. What I also thought about was the rotten tooth I had for years that had to be pulled out, and how that couldn't possibly have been good for me either (not the tooth that needed a root canal), and if it were true that root canals were bad, would it also be true that implanted teeth are also bad? And fillings, and basically everything. I have found that having chemo has done quite the number on my once beautiful, completely straight, never needing braces and root canal free teeth. My teeth seem to be rotting from the inside. I have had one pulled and a root canal on another and my gums are receding from dry mouth. I think doing a study on whether root canals are a factor in getting breast cancer must be hard because breast cancer mostly strikes women at an age where most have had a root canal. Let me know what you find. Good luck!

I had several root canals before BC that in the end needed to become implants. Now I just skip the root canal stage and just go to the implant. Less expensive, ( in the long run) and I also read stuff about root cznskscsnd BC so why add more risk.

If there is any association at all (and there’s none found on reputable sites and publications), it’s probably with the need for root canal—i.e., the preexisting inflammation in the dental arch that might be a reflection of increased systemic inflammation). And even that is a stretch. Did you know that every heroin addict started out drinking milk? And so did every breast cancer patient. See how ridiculous that sounds? Coincidence is not correlation is not causation.

....and speaking of milk, prior to my breast cancer diagnosis I was drinking a large glass of milk every day for years thinking that it would keep my bones healthy and strong and prevent osteoporosis later in life. After being diagnosed, I read that cow's milk has a lot of estrogen and if the cow is pregnant, the estrogen levels jump 30% or 300% ?? I can't remember the levels but it's some ridiculous amount. I too had root canal treatment on my first molar years ago on the lower right side. My cancer is on the right side at 12 o-clock. Coincidence? Who knows. Interesting, though.

Again, there is zero evidence of a link between root canals and breast cancer. I have great teeth, never had a root canal. I've only had a couple of small cavities in my entire life.
