I have multiple cysts in both breasts. And a cluster of microcalcifications that has remained stable on my last testing. Most of the cysts are simple cysts, however, several are complicated cysts. Now I have a cluster of cysts that is new and have been advised to go back to testing (mammogram and ultrasound) every 6 months. Everything that I have read has led me to believe that cysts are benign and nothing to worry about. So why then is it recommended to be checked every 6 months? What am I missing?

They are probably just being extra careful. I have a simple cyst that does not need monitoring. However I have a fibroadenoma that did. They r probably monitoring because some of the cysts are complex. Once you go 6 months with no changes, they are likely to put you back on regular mammogram schedule. That's what they did with me.
