Tamoxifen Mood swings?

I have been on tamoxifen for 2 years and 3 months. During this time I also took Lexapro. I was feeling really good mood wise, but kept gaining weight. It wasn't the tamoxifen causing the weight gain, but the lexapro so I stopped it over time (have not gained anymore weight). However now, the mood swings are horrible. I feel really crabby all the time and will cry for no reason. I have no patience for anything. I don't know what to do. Thoughts?

Thanks

Nancy

im on 5 of lexapro too, and id like to get off it, but worried tamoxifen effects will shine through, so i may stay on it for the next 5 years...

that was my plan to stay on it while on tamoxifen. I was originally on 10 mg and then dropped to 5 mg after talking to my doctor about it. I may go back to 5 mg, but I felt more stable (mood wise) while on 10mg. Ugh I just don't know what to do

i can't help much, since I've barely been on tamoxifen for a month. no change in mood for me, but i am up 5 lbs since surgery in jan- possibly meds, possibly just not moving around like i should. how much weight did you put on? i had tried to take topiramate last summer for headaches, and maybe ill go on that again to balance the weight, but id rather just be off all meds completely. waiting for nicer weather to be active outside!!

no easy answers. frustrating when the lexapro takes a few weeks to kick in, but maybe easier since you've already been on it? try 5mg again and see how you go. for me, its just enough to take the 'edge' off and reduce panic attacks, but not enough to blunt me completely. good luck!!
