Downdog, thank you so much for your response which I only saw now, October 1st. Sorry I had no notification of your post and just happened to come across it by chance! I am in the Vancouver area and managed to get a second opinion but according to her I do stand a chance of losing my implants. I had opted to wait until now as we went to South Africa for the month of September. I want to get the surgery done even if I have to go 'flat'. I do know about possible further reconstruction but I believe the waiting period is about four years. Think it will just be easier to make peace with a possible flat chest as I have enough on my plate with the bone mets! Take care and thanks for responding!

Boobiesister, that's so wonderful you took the opportunity to see beautiful South Africa and can treasure your memories of a great trip. Did you visit Cape Town? Have you consulted with either Sheina Macadam or Peter Lennox? Capsulectomy with replacement of implant vs capsulotomy and delayed recon? 4 years seems an inordinately long wait for delayed recon even within a public health system and I really think there will be some shorter available windows if you advocate for yourself. I realize eliminating the pain, discomfort and movement limitations are paramount, but I think it warrants exploration of the possibilities of doing this concurrently with reconstruction, if that's a avenue you wish to explore. Being at peace with whatever you decide is paramount. Best of luck with whatever path you choose. I will PM you some other info.

Hello! I haven't been back on this website for a very long time, but as the1 year anniversary of my BMX is approaching, I started thinking about all of you. It was such a strange time in my life last year. What a journey it has been! I was very thankful to have your advice and encouragement. I am completely happy with my new breasts and my life. I feel so blessed to be alive and healthy. I hope you all are too.

Hello All - great to see some familiar names hitting that year mark .. I hit mine as well and just can't believe I am now on the other side - this last year seemed to take forever! I actually had my final breast reconstruction surgery last week 3 months after Radiation - so tissue expanders are now finally out .. WooHoo! Never thought last year after my BMX on May 28th that I would have my TE's until June 7th a year later !!! .. Hugs and Good wishes to all! You all are awesome!

Hi DayLily & lou23 - doing OK here .. will be 2 Years for me end of the month since Surgery! Switched to Arimidex for next 7-8 years .. was on Tamoxifen and Dr. confirmed Post Menopause so switched meds - not easy body still adjusting to the switch with lots of side effects but I will take it compared to the alternative. Two years ago our journey seemed soo long - nice to now be on the other side! Hope everyone is doing well! Sending Hugs
