Chemo Ice Caps for Triple Negative IDC - Should I try it?

Hi All,

Just had a recent recurrence of IDC, and completed surgery. As I consider chemotherapy options, my Oncologist offered Elastogel Chemo Helmets while I sit in treatment (3 hours per treatment). I am having AC dose- dense chemo.

I'd LOVE to know anyone's thoughts or experiences with the ice caps. I am hoping to save at least SOME of my hair this time around, if possible.

Thanks, light and love.

hi Sunset Breeze, I used the Penguin Cold caps for 4 months last year during chemo and kept at least 60% of my hair. It was worth the frozen head for me; I'd do it again! This pic was taken just before my last chemo; much thinner than normal but it was hair! Let me know if I can answer any other questions image

I used them. It saved my hair all through chemo although I lost like 80% of it in gradual sheds What's left is crap but it just looks like I have curly out of control hair. My hair had been blond and straight thick and down to my butt. The thing it does is it keeps you from ever being bald. Which I just didn't want

also if they're offering I'd totally do it!!!

The biggest stress Is getting the caps the ice thencoolers and having someone come do it for you.

I just saw Beth Israel in Boston news article. They have machines that keep the cap cold no dry ice. I think is much less labor intensive. Getting the word out, the article I saw was dated 2017.
