    Some doctors feel a significant rise in tumor markers is 5x to 10x. There certainly is considerable normal variability so month to month changes are not very meaningful. Watching people on this forum, I believe there can be significance to a long term trend ... a consistent rise over several months. Particularly with ILC.

    Of course, when mine went down last month by 10% (from 44 to 40) I felt that was very significant!

    Kandy, what about calling this week to set up a palliative care appointment, rather than asking your onc next week? I understand that palliative care specialists can work in detail with you on pain issues.

    Kandy: Could you possibly rent a heat/massage chair?

    We have a La-Z-Boy, and I turn on the heat and the massage buttons just to hit the lower spine, and it does help.

    When I was still working, I bought a large heating pad from Rite Aid to wrap around my lower back (small heating pad not big enough). The heat helps somewhat.

    I FEEL for you as my back pain is getting worse, too. Gonna have to re-think radiating again :o(.

    I just got back from seeing the MO. The scan showed mixed results with the chemo. Some lesions were smaller, some larger. There was also new lesions, 2 of them was in my liver. I asked about him doing a biopsy on one of the liver lesions. He did not think there would be any benefit from it. He thinks that some of the cancer has already figured out how to survive with Abraxane. So his plan was to keep taking Abraxane but to add Carboplatin. I will start that next week after insurance approves it. He is going to do 3 rounds, which is 9 weeks then rescan. I'm praying this works this time. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.     Kandy, I am sorry for the mixed results, but your MO was armed with a new plan, and that is good. I know how stressful this is for you. You remain in my prayers. I hope the new combo treats you gently and is effective beyond belief.

    I'm sorry for the mixed results, but glad that your MO has a new plan. Here's a third vote for "gentle and effective" results.

    Now, go get yourself some grandbaby therapy. That's the best treatment.

    Hugs Kandy. It's tough to stare down an ambiguous result like that and keep going ... but you have a good plan and many reasons to get back in the ring and fight.

    kandy, you have been in my thoughts so often these last 2 months...please show me how you pull yourself back up and out of this...I am continually sending strength and healing thoughts your way ( actually to all of you....oh I wish it did more good ) thanks for the updates, dont know about every one else, but I always worry when its been awhile between posts.

    I took some time away and have just found this thread. I am so sorry to hear that you are in pain and that your bloody little mutant cells have woken up. You have my best thoughts. Gosh, I hope they figure out how to make you more comfortable. Chronic pain is simply not acceptable.

    Kandy, have you tried acupuncture for pain? Some women in my live stage 4 support group have tried it and say it helps.

    Palliative radiation can help for pain too, but once you have a series of multiple rad sessions, you can't go back and do the same area again from what I've heard, or you'll have tissue necrosis.

    I have pretty bad chronic pain now from spinal bone mets and mets in the muscles adjacent to the spine from tumor progression, so that's my dilemma...do I pull the radiation arrow out of the quiver and use up that option or do I try something a little less invasive?

    Praying for pain free days and nights.

    Hello Ladies.

    I started carbo yesterday. So far, I have had no other side effects. They do give an anti nausea med that is good for 3 days, hopefully that won't be a big issue cause I hate nausea. Really praying this works. I'll still get abraxane and the carbo every 3 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed. I do get to see and love Harper a lot. He really is great therapy. He melts my heart with that smile. Holding all of you up in prayer. Enjoy the moment.

    kandy. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and praying this is the med to kick those cancer cells bootie. Glad you got Harper therapy. How's your youngest with all the change I am assuming In your energy levels etc. ? Reaching out a hand to hold yours 👋

    Awww Kandy, I hope the carbo is the ticket too and the nausea stays away. Focus on that baby and be good to yourself. I hope Spring is blooming for you in NC and you can start enjoying your pool and garden.

    Kandy, I came by the thread to check on you and I'm sorry to learn your mixed results on Abraxane alone. I sure hope the carbo chaser does the trick for you and your pain levels improve fast.
