Scared of Mouth Lesion/Recurrence/Second Cancer

Options

Hello, ladies. I haven't posted in a while. Went for my dental cleaning late last week, and hygenist noticed a "small pink lesion" on my soft palate. I know that most oral lesions are benign, but I am absolutely scared to death -- that my cancer has recurred, or that I have a new one. I realize that I don't trust my body after this breast cancer and feel so very vulnerable. I want to "get my groove back," but it is taking quite a bit longer than I imagined.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? My mind goes to the worst possible outcome, rather than seeing the range of possibilities that could be pertinent.

I have been off Arimidex since September, because it caused a major mood disturbance. Am now preparing to try Aromasin and hope things will go better.

Just feel like I am in a whole new world after this experience. Going to work and hoping to have a good day. Thanks to all.

Bevin: She said I could wait three weeks and see if it changes and come back to her, or I could go straight to an oral surgeon for evaluation and/or removal. I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow. So much cancer in my family right now that I just didn't want to wait...have been very anxious. I know a lot of us go through this...Hope this is okay and I can start once again in getting used to "new normal" after BC and its treatment. Thanks for replying.

I had a lesion like that when I was in my 20's. An oral surgeon removed it and it was biopsied. I don't remember what it was called, but it was benign. It was an unpleasant surgery and the darn thing grew back anyway. That was about 30 years ago. It's still there, hasn't change. My dentist checks it out at each visit when she does my oral cancer screening with some special light.

Hope yours is nothing to worry about.
