Hi All;

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and currently looking at different options for mastectomy. While searching online I came across this CO2 laser surgery options that is completely outpatient. It seems like a good option; given the fact that you do not need to check into the hospital but there isn't too much information about it out there. Does anyone have any experience with this surgery or knows someone who had it done? The doctors name is Dr. Vincent Ansanelli - does anyone know anything about him? Any information will be helpful and appreciated. Thank you in advance for everyone's help.

    Hi Ally2017,

    Like you, I've just been diagnosed and came across CO2 laser surgery in another thread. A Google search came up with his website. For some reason, I can't post a link here, but it is a pretty straightforward URL ("laser" "breast" "surgery" followed by dot com).

    Looks like he's in New York, so I'm looking for surgeons in my area (San Francisco Bay Area) who use the same technique.

    If helpful, I can share what I find.

    Hey Ally,

    Do you have 2 threads that are the same? I answered the following on another thread:

    Hi Ally,

    I looked through PubMed and he doesn't seem to be published in peer reviewed journals. On his website, he has a link to one article that was published back in 1986, but there don't seem to be other studies where they were able to reproduce the results. It is interesting that he would reference an article so old, more than 30 years, and no other. I would also wonder if insurance covers it, or considers it "experimental". Sorry I couldn't be of more help

    FWIW, I had mastectomy as a day surgery--no hospital stay was required.

    Hi;

    Thank you so much for your replies. Based on his website he doesn't accept my insurance. I am currently also looking into options available in my local hospitals but really don't want to go through chemo.

    The type of surgery to kill/remove a cancer tumor does not play a role in whether you would be a candidate for chemo or not.  It has to do with the type of tumor, your genetics, stage of cancer, and more.  My concern would be that without a biopsy, you don't really know enough to treat it.  Since the freezing of a breast cancer tumor is not widely studied, reported, or used, I would not choose that route.
