Hi everyone, my mam is half way through her chemo and has lost her appetite. Everything tastes dreadful which doesn't help. Does anyone have any tips or advice on what you eat that tastes even a little decent. Thank y

    Hi Babstodd-

We're sorry to hear of the trouble your mom is having with eating, we know loss of appetite is a common side effect, and it can be difficult to manage! You may want to try posting in our Managing Side Effects of Breast Cancer/Treatment forum, lots of very knowledgeable members who may be able to offer some insight: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/6.

Half way there!!! I'm so sorry she is going through this. It sucks :( sushi rice and miso soup helped me out. Everyone's different though. I hope the last half goes quickly for her.

    Xx

Sorry your mom is going through this. When I didn't feel like eating, I would eat homemade jello, eggs and rice, or mashed potatoes. I would have just the broth from take out pho. When I needed extra calories, I drank milkshakes with protein powder.

Our local cancer centers hands out free LemonHeads sucking candies to chemo patients to mask the metallic taste. I hear that popsicles help too.

Sorry your mom has to grow through this.... I found pea soup, eggs, smoothies, yogurt and Kelloggs breakfast drinks the easiest things to eat/drink. Chewing was so tiring and nothing had much taste.
