Anyone On Navelbine Pill Form
Ladies, I most probably will switch to Navelbine pill form soon. Would be great to read your experiences on it.
I will skip the first infusion, made the deal with MO. ![]()
I don't want to burn my only vein, as I don't have a port yet.
Thanks & love

It seems no one is. I am on Navelbine, but not the oral version. I had round 5 today. I am having it for liver mets. The only side effect I have noticed is muscle cramps. My MO did warn me that it is often called Navelbind for a reason, constipation can be an issue. I have been taking steps to stay ahead of that. I get the normal anti nausea meds before hand, so I would presume you would be given something as well.
It seems to be a lot more gentle than other chemo's that I have had. Hair thinning is listed as a SE, but I haven't noticed any.
Best wishes with it.

thanks Freya for your comment. I haven't yet started on it, but will definitely take your advice on staying ahead of constipation. Thumbs up!

Ebru,
I know this is off topic, but can I strongly hint that you should get a port? Now, while you are healthy enough to do well with the minor procedure?
Here's why I'm butting in: It's a good bet you will need more venous access as you proceed along the BC path, not less. You are becoming a "hard stick". There will come a moment when your medical team will need to start a central line. Wouldn't it be great to avoid a lot of possible discomfort and anxiety and just have it all taken care of now?
Even if you aren't using the port, it just needs flushing ( a five minute procedure) every six weeks. Can you honestly say that you aren't hanging out at the Onc's office at least once every six weeks, and that fitting in a little port maintenance wouldn't be a huge burden?
I'm a port convert. Totally love mine, as I'm needle phobic and the whole drama about starting a line used to make me nauseous and spinny. Not any more. And, I have the use of both of my hands during the infusions, so I can knit as I please, and go to the restroom on my own, without needing help with my garments. Yippeeeeee.
Official nose poking in where it doesn't belong finished.
I will be curious as to how you react to the Navelbine, as it is one of the ones I'm looking at when my Halaven time is over. Do you want to start an official thread?
