Tunegrrl - that emu oil IS really slick stuff. I've been using it throughout, but I really noticed it this morning. I put it on at 6:30a and at 2p in the afternoon, it was still slick and shiny on my skin. I haven't tried the sea buckthorn oil, but I'll be going to the health food store to see if they have it this weekend. Cheers!

Kshorten - I have a friend who finished a week ago. Her doctor said peak skin redness would be 3-4 days after finishing. I haven't blistered either and my worst spot is same as your - in the clavicle area. All the rest are darker but more tan with touch pink.

But thanks to all who went before us! I have been slathering on creams, oils, and lotions like nobodies business. Your advice and words of wisdom have helped so much!

Tunegrrl - question, how many times a day are you using the sea buckthorn oil. I spoke too soon yesterday and it's really sore today.

I'm almost all better now, but my routine was morning, after rads and before bed. Usually i showered right before going to rads. Applying the sea buckthorn oil felt quite luxurious to me. Using up some emu oil now since i am temporarily out of sea buckthorn oil. Emu oil is very nice, but sea buckthorn oil is better, in my opinion. Since you have both, i'd be interested to hear which you end up favoring as well.

I am 15 days post full breast rads and my underarm is beginning to peel. The boost rad area is still pretty red and is 10 days post. Thankfully no blisters

I checked for the sea buckthorn oil at Amazon. How long did a one ounce bottle last you? Since I'm very buxom, I'm envisioning needing an ounce every other day. :-)

I'm curious - how did your skin react to just the boosts? Did your breasts get particularly worse? I'm scheduled for 5 and kshorten for 6. Any one know what determines the number of boosts?

SuprSurviv.....I felt the boosts were easier on my skin since it zeros in on a smaller area.

VLH - The bottle I purchased on Amazon was 2 ounces, I've just started using it but it doesn't seem like it takes a whole lot. A couple drops seems to go a long way.

SuprSurvivr - I have know idea how they come up with their numbers but I wish I was getting 5 boosts instead of 6, only because I would be done on Friday and wouldn't have to make one more trip on Monday morning.

Caligirl55 - Thanks for in info, if I remember correctly from last time I did this, the boosts were much easier.

just started 21 radiation treatments with five boosts at the end . So far two treatments in with no redness. I've been putting aloe Vera and calendula on as preventative measures . Does anyone know if putting lotions on preventively helps for future burning?

I don't know if it prevents it because I burned, but I think it would have been worse if I hadn't been putting lotion on.

Tunegrrl - where did you purchase the Sea Buckthorn oil? I'm looking at one on Amazon. It's 1 oz. for $22. I don't think that would last very long.

    Thanks!

I used nothing and my skin went slightly pink, after rads I was putting on moisturiser and my skin was covered in spots so I stopped for a few days the rads works for a few days after it has finished (I'm Irish paleish skin no freckles), I'm lathering on cream now and a month after it's back to normal .well the skin is lol

I started my five boosts today, expecting electron but instead was told they'd be protons. Has anyone had proton boosts? I guess it focuses the radiation deeper rather than at the surface of the skin. Of course I'm trying to figure out WHY. Meeting with Dr on Thursday, guess I'll ask then.Dang, my breast hurts tonight tho. Four more - this too shall pass.

    Hi Everyone

@SuprS I think the proton boosts are used as they can be more accurately targeted so can get closer to lungs etc without causing any spillover damage.

CONGRATS!!! to CC2016 and Fotheringay for crossing the finish line. :)

Ok I've developed blisters on my neck that have now popped and are oozing. My RO is calling in Silvadene. Who used this and what can I expect? Any help would be appreciated.

Kshorten ... The silvadene was wonderful from my open sores when my skin split in my armpit. Messy but soothing and healing. Good luck

I got the silvadene prescribed in my final days "just in case it gets worse". I only used it one super uncomfortable night and never needed to again. Doctor even gave a refill and told me to get it too. Supposed to be the best thing to have on hand for accidental burns.
