Maple fest today at the Ashokan Center. DH and our littlest one hikedout to the sugar shack- 3 miles round trip. It's so cold here but the fresh air felt good. Jogged/ walked on the treadmill this AM. Still making my way thru Parks and Rec so had a good couple laughs!

good workout yesterday - 62 minutes treadmill with 23 one-minute jogs mixed in for a total of four miles. Followed that with 45 minutes on recumbent bike while watching a Netflix show on my phone for another nine miles.

Nothing today except packing for New Zealand trip. Will get in at least 2 hopefully 3 workouts before departure on Friday. Will get lots of walking in there and hoping for some good hikes as well

Welcome newbies - we love it when people find this most awesome thread. You'll get nothing but support and encouragement here 👍👍👍

Sweet, I am EXCITED for your vacation. My nephew spent a year in New Zealand and the pictures he sent home were stunning!

Let us know how your appointment goes on Tuesday, Varga.

DS and some friends are off to Las Vegas for a wedding; so we are in charge of the grand-puppy for the week. So far today it's lots of fetching and a walk in the snow.

My exercise regime is completely off track. Had to stop b/c of nerve pain which hopefully will resolve as I am having surgery again on 3/20. At least I now know that there was a reason for the pain and my inability to lift any weights. My new PS is confident that after my revision surgery for CC that I will slowly be able to regain the strength in my arms. I'm going with that theory and hoping by May that I will be able to start back at the gym.

Lots of walking today...windy and no sun so felt colder than the temp, but not complaining. Back to morning walks in the dark!

    Sweet dream

Piscean, it is a crap shoot but there are ways we can reduce risks. For ER+ cancer it's obviously good to get estrogen levels down. I never had much fat, possibly like the woman you mentioned, but I probably had a lot of estrogen circulating in my blood if not stored in fat. I didn't exercise as regularly as I should nor did I have a fiber-rich diet to help metabolize excess estrogen. My tumor was 100% estrogen-driven, metastasized to the bone at diagnosis. Since then I've been exercising daily and getting at least 7 portions of fruit and veggies, preferrably organic, to minimize xenoestrogens.

Sweet, have fun in New Zealand! It is supposed to be the best country for retirement. I have to get there someday.

Still decluttering but managed some Tango in the morning for a change, then Body Jam tonight. Maybe a HIIT workout in between.

Scottie, sorry about the nerve pain. Hope surgery next week resolves pain and restores ROM.

It snowed enough overnight that I used weather as an excuse to take a vacation day. My commute is already long and was looking at two+ hours on the road. Was up at normal time (early) and couldn't go back to sleep so got out and cleared driveway and sidewalks. One hour Shovel & Sculpt. Today is DH's day off and he's still sleeping so will wake up to a nice surprise. :-)

Had a nice walk yesterday in the preserve near our house with hubby. We had gotten about 5 inches of snow over the weekend, so walking was a little challenging. Expecting a lot more snow tomorrow. Off to the movies tonight to see The Shack. I have not read the book, but people tell me it was a good read, so I'm looking forward to the movie.

I read "The Shack" for the first time several years ago and again last year. It is a wonderful book. Let me know what you think of the movie. I want to see it, but sometimes movie adaptations can be disappointing.

North and North East friends, stay safe. From the news it sounds like a whopper of a storm. Denver is so very dry....Its been several weeks since we've had any precipitation. Not that I want a blizzard, but we could really use some now or rain. Some of our biggest snow storms have been mid March through early April.

I haven't been good about getting out for a walk during the work day...just too crazy at work. But I'm trying to get a walk in when I get home. Plus after dinner.

Will try to check in later tonight.

Subbing the next few days for my history teaching friend (happily not for medical reasons this time, he is in Florida watching spring training).....so that is really fun since I love the subject & know the kids both (the not fun thing is that so many kids are sick that entering the school is like walking into a cauldron of germs Shocked). I took Stella for a long walk after work & went to yoga. We are done with snow (for now anyway), and the forecast is for nicer weather. Stay safe everyone who is in the storm path!!!!!

It's beginning to look like it is going to take both me and hubby to shovel us out from all this snow.

Blizzard is keeping everyone home today. Hoping we keep our power.

Scottie- I hope your surgery relieves your pain.

Pat-What did you think of The Shack? I saw it last night and really liked it. I am still digesting the message

OK, It was a good movie, but not a great movie. Friends I was with who read the book said the book is much better than the movie. One friend sitting next to me sniffled through most of the movie. However, it did not affect me that way (and I can cry over almost anything). Maybe because I was focusing more on the message - so my brain was working overtime rationalizing and examining the underlying themes. Putting the book on my list! And there was a coming attraction for the Zookeepers wife, another book that's on my list. So many books, so little time.

In the midst of the blizzard here - looks like the rain/snow line is trying to overtake us right now, so that means incredibly heavy shoveling - UGH! Winds have arrived but not too bad yet. We heat with wood and cook with propane so should be allright. Plus we got a generator a couple of years ago (never used!), maybe this will be the storm that does it. But I'm hoping the power stays on...

Pat- the book was excellent. I recommend it. I had the same experience with rationalizing thought during the movie. I did tear up during certain scenes. My friend was crying the whole second half. Stay safe; about 6-7 inches here so far.

Pat, Ginger, M0mmy, and everyone else in the storm: thinking of you, stay warm and safe!

Hi All! I'm several pages behind. Welcome to the new ladies here. So glad you've joined us.

Winter decided to return. We even had a touch of snow on Sunday morning but by the afternoon it was all gone.

I've been walking/jogging regularly since the last time I posted. I'll be better about reporting!

Subbed, took a long, brisk dog walk after school. I have been trying to do some toning but it doesn't work that well with a little puppy companion!

Everyone in the storm path stay safe and warm. No snow here, but bitter cold (for us anyway) in the morning. Irony is that it with be 74 degrees on Monday for my surgery. Uggh.

I hope everyone back East is safe and warm. Weather way too hot in Denver and too dry...Mid 70s forecast for tomorrow and near 80 for the week-end. No snow or rain in the near future!!

Don't like walking in the dark again in the mornings, but I do like it being light to walk after work, especially since I haven't been getting out during the work day.

Got a massive headache. Going to finish up some work and go to bed.

    Sweet dreams!

At least 12 inches of wet, heavy snow here. Lots of shovel and sculpt. Wide awake at 3am for some reason.

Have been catching up on all the posts. In answer to a question a while back, I was super-fit when diagnosed as just coming off a summer of cycling events including the 200+ mile annual ride to Portland. I got in four 5k runs over the past 5 days, but no skiing as was raining plus numerous road closures. I used the time to catch up on work and do most of my 2016 taxes. We are bringing on two new people at the nonprofit so things are hopping. Also, I have this recurring dream of technology that works!!!

I heard the frogs singing the last two evenings, so spring must finally be on it's way. I am blaming Phil for all the late winter storms.

Hoping to get up skiing on Sunday. I have a Saturday meeting, and suspect it's time to get my bicycle out as I can easily fit in a ride, rain or shine. Skiing is even better exercise than cycling. One of the new people at the nonprofit is also a cyclist, so it's fun being with someone who also does outdoor sports.

I will say one more thing about exercise. I know we are all interested in survival, but exercise is also important to quality of life. Things like energy, sleep, sex, clear thinking, appearance, mood. I certainly don't want to spend the rest of my days as a grumpy, dumpy, fuzzy thinking, miserable blob!!! I like being fit, high energy, positive, and on my game.

The only negative is that buying clothes is a lot more fun because they look better. Even if you don't lose one single pound!!

That's my story. Now back to the salt mines as a long day awaits. - Claire

Claire, I'm with you! I mean about all the perks of regular exercise, that is. I'm not much of a skier though we got plenty this storm to keep our local ski resorts running through March!

Woke early this morning. (Another snow day today, yay!) so logged 2.5 miles on the treadmill. Later today I'm teaching yoga again- added a third person- class is growing.

Hope everyone is doing alright during the Ides of March...

I am proud of myself. It is very cold here today so I bundled up really well and went outside and walked for 45 minutes. It felt wonderful. Sometimes it just takes me a few minutes of doing the exercise, then I really feel glad I am moving and making the effort. I don't know why are argue with myself so much. Probably because it is so cozy to stay warm in the house with a warm blanket and a good book. I do that way too much, no wonder I am so flabby. I mean really weak and flabby.

hi all and welcome VelvetPoppy. I read and enjoyed The Shack but haven't seen the movie.

coffeelatte, I am proud of you, too! Have you seen "This Girl Can" yet?

It's cold here too but I scurried over to the Capitol to walk yesterday and today. The floorperiod ended but the legis is holding hearings so the joint is jumping. 22,714 steps = 10.75 miles since last post a few days ago.
