Abdominal swelling after double mastectomy

Does anyone know what to do about abdominal swelling? I am 6 weeks post BMX and have to wear my husband's clothes because I cannot get into mine. I look 8 mths pregnant. It is not as bad in the morning but by day end I am blown up like a beach ball. My care team is stumped and I have had blood tests, CAT scan and xrays and all looks normal. My care team is speculating that it is fluid build up but no seroma. Please tell me there is something I can do here as I start Chemo in 2 weeks...

    Gosh that sounds awful. How is it doing now? Did you by chance have DIEP? or the surgeons didn't touch your abdomen and you just have swelling for no reason?

    Hi

    I am 3 weeks post double mastectomy and have the same issue.

    I am wearing control type underwear and eating lots of cucumber and drinking herbal tea. Slow progress but progress.

    My surgeon told me its all in my mind and Im just noticing now because my boobs are gone. Rubish! Im 2 dress sizes bigger around the middle.

    Im sure its part of your body's coping mechanisms as it was used to sending blood etc to your chest thats no longer there.

    Come on medical peeps. Dont tell us we are fat. Help us.

    My first thought is truncal lymphedema. Do you have an LE-trained PT within an hour of your house? Check with a university hospital. You need a proper evaluation.
