a couple months shy of my 3 year diagnosis. A very rough 3 year battle with more complications than I care to recall. A couple scares with fast necrosis-benign. My hubby planned an overnight trip to reconnect. ..much needed. ..our intimacy dropped off the face for many reasons many of you understand. So, a romantic jaccuzzi suite...reconnecting and having the best time and then we find the new lump in my mastectomy scar.-just takes my breath away-can't help it-rock in the pit of my stomach. I Google lump in mastectomy scar...results all allude to local recurrence. This just never gets easier. ..the wondering, the waiting, the what ifs, the panic that life could be completely upside down again. .or not. I fought bc and all of the treatment and complications. ..I don't want to fight through the rest of my life mentally or physically. This is so hard. ..and Nobody understands that devastating feeling when you find a new lump except people in your own shoes. Frustrating! There. ..pity party over...thanks for coming. ..lol! !!!

    Sorry you have a new lump. I had surgery in Aug 2013 too. I've had my share of drama since then, so I completely understand. Call your MO and BS first thing in the morning and get in to see them ASAP. Hopefully it is scar tissue or a suture granuloma. Keep us posted

    I just went through the exact same thing - lump in mastectomy scar. My surgery was just about a year ago and I haven't had any reconstruction. My MO noticed 3 small hard lumps. Had a biopsy done and they turned out to be benign. Just some tissue damaged during radiation. Biopsy was no fun but the results were worth it.

    Totally understand that "just takes my breath away" feeling! Hang in there and good luck.

    Thanks for your reply! Don't worry, I will be calling first thing in the morning. I am sorry to see you had a recurrence. Yes, hopefully just scar tissue or something, and I know there is no sense of worrying until there is something to worry about. Easier said than done, and maybe some people are just better with it. The killer is I finally started to feel normal and didn't think about it anymore. ..then WHAM! LUMP-just literally takes my breath away. I love this site because women on this site know exactly what I am talking about!!! Best of luck and health to you!     Lesley, what ever happened? I'm dealing with the same thing right now. A lump right in the scar area. I had a double mastectomy 7 years ago. 4 years after that I got a "new primary" cancer on the other side, locally. It's been 2.5 years and now a lump on the original side. My breast surgeon says it feels like scar tissue (I'd actually had fat necrosis in this exact spot for years, then it just disappeared, but now there's a new lump in that same exact spot!) but he had me do an ultrasound last week to be sure. The ultrasound showed a solid mass, a little irregular shaped, with some shadowing, but brightly colored. Supposedly most cancer shows up as a black spot on an ultrasound. Regardless, because of my history, they had me do a biopsy on Thursday. So now I wait. Just curious what happened with your situation.

    jenni - as I posted to you earlier, this is another thread that has not been active and I stated many reasons why people stop posting. If you check "search" for topics that are relevant to you, take a look at when the last posting was made to determine how long ago it was active.

    Jennjdance...did you say the cancer is supposed to be black on ultrasound? My understanding is that cysts or other fluid filled sacs (like the urinary bladder) are black...
