Orig path stage IIIC, MO has you install port. Have PET scan, something on bone, no biopsy etc. MO starts me on hormone therapy. I have 12 positive nodes, a port and no chemo in future. Second opinion tomorrow with a MO who has a working relationship with RO and Surgeon. Current MO is a new group who has not gone to tumor board, nor does not know the MO for second opinion and RO. Would you be content on hormone therapy vs chemo with 12 positive nodes?

I would get a second opinion, which it sounds like you have already scheduled...each breast cancer is unique as are each of us so you need to have faith that your team has individualized your treatment plan to give you the best chance of survival. Good luck with your decision, (((hugs))) Maureen

Goingcrzy8- is the 2nd opinion MO apart of the tumor board your RO and Surgeon are on? I can't say enough great things if you have an opportunity to have a team that meets like that- you're getting additional opinions built in.

Like Maureen said- each situation is different but I think you're doing the right thing getting that 2nd opinion either way. Good luck....what we always need is someone giving us some guidance through this process and the stuff that happens along the way!

Hmm, it's actually quite common for someone who has bone mets to begin treatment with hormonal therapy. But, first you'd hope that the MO would biopsy the relevant area on the bone. Why didn't MO order a biopsy? Was the area in a difficult-to-reach place?

So, I agree that a second opinion would be helpful in your case, and it looks like you're already on it.

    Best wishes!

AJ the surgeon spoke to the MO who I am getting second opinion with back in Dec when the path came in. Second Opinion MO is not in my medical group. I had to have a case manager at my insurance intervene, because my PCP sent me to a different dr in the same group as I am going to now. I want to change medical groups and go with the the Second MO because he has a relationship with the the other 2. They are all surprised she never even started chemo based on the orig path. This is so frustrating

Goincrzy - I think you got really good answers from where you've been posting on Stage IV - Crissy's group for "not stage 4 but questions". There's nothing you can do now about the past. I hope your 2nd opinion gives you more peace with the treatment prescribed, or the doc orders more testing and gives you treatment option you like better.
