Skin/Nipple loss after my needle biopsy

I am wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. I had a needle biopsy with a lot of bleeding so the assistant (not the Dr.) put extreme pressure and even pinched the top part of my breast very hard for several minutes to try to get the bleeding to stop. I am not sure if she even got the bleeding to stop before she glues it shut. I was in extreme pain so the Dr. prescribed pain medication for home and that was about the extent of the appointment. The next day My entire nipple looked like it had been burnt off ! I had to have another Dr. go in and drain the blood surgically. My breast obviously does not look the same a month later. Just curious if this happened to anyone else.

We are really sorry to hear what you have been through with your biopsy! Have you been back to see your original doctor? Probably worth a visit! We hope that the results were benign from your biopsy!

The doctor that sent me for the biopsy had to do a surgery to clean up the damage to my breast from the original biopsy as well as drain the blood that settled in the bottom of my breast. The great news is that the lumps were benign. I was just hoping that if this had happened to someone else that they could share their story in hopes that i could better understand why it happened. I am pretty sure it was the amount of pressure and pinching that was applied to the breast to stop the bleeding.

you got a professional who likes to inflict pain. I encountered a dentist once like that. It;s said with any new medical person/procedure y ou should ask to speak to other patients of theirs

It was actually the assistant that did this. The doctor just left the room to move on to the next patient.

    Hi,

I had that happen to me during my stereotactic biopsy. But I believe it was my fault. I couldn't have the biopsy done on the table so I had it done sitting in a chair. I have a lot of anxiety and this was easier on that but I was moving during the procedure because I was sitting and talking to a nurse who was there to keep me calm and you're not supposed to move during this procedure! Well, during it I felt something drip onto my arm but I thought it was the stuff they used to clean the area before starting the procedure. Nope, it was blood! They wouldn't let me know about it or look at it until they were done with the procedure and they had me lay back and they applied a lot of pressure to the spot and wouldn't let me know what was going on before they had stopped the bleeding and bandaged it up. It was very sore afterwards but they told me to put ice on it and to take Tylenol if i needed to. Those women were awesome especially having to listen to me babble for over an hour! (That's what I do when I'm nervous) I'm not saying it was your fault with what happened during your biopsy I'm saying for me I moved so it nicked something on the inside of my breast and it bled for about half an hour!
