I've had implants under the muscle for the past 10 years. wondering if I opted to go with tissue expander's ifthe whole process would be easier because of this or if I would be a candidate for direct implant rather than tissue expander's because of this?

I had implants prior to my double masectomy on 12/14/16. My plastic surgeon wouldn't put implants in at that surgery because he said everything needed to heal, so he put in expanders. He did say that he was able to fill them a bit more then usual because everything was stretched out a little more.

I have had my implants for 12 years and my surgeon said I couldn't get implants put in at the time of surgery for two reasons, one need time to heal and two not recommend because I need to go through six weeks of rad and rad could damage the implant. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the expander at the time of the surgery. My surgeon left the implant in. Four days later I had to go back and have the saline taken out because there was so much pressure on my skin the skin was dying. I'm better now. Now I have a deflated implant. Looking forward to reconstruction after radiation.
