Severe hormonal side effects from chemo

I started experiencing debilitating burning and pain after chemo. Has anyone used estriol cream temporarily to help with symptoms? My naturopathic oncologist recommended it. I can't function; problems sleeping, walking, 24/7. I'm supposed to start letrozole, but that would even lower the remaining estrogen left in my system. Oncologist office is not advising this, but this is a quality of life issue.

That sounds more like an adverse reaction to the chemo. Best to call your MO.

sorry to hear about your side effects. I suffered after paclitaxel with neuropathy. Which has the burning type of pain you might be talking about. I suffered with lightning bolt type pain. This side effect did not go away after chemo ended and after seeing many specialists was eventually put on pain meds. I was on letrozole and couldn't stand the bone pain and switched to Anastrozole; even though I was not post menopausal before chemo. In the beginning suffered from 16 extreme hot flashes a day. Long story short with the right medical team backing you, there are options. side effects do ease with time. When making your choices, please make them carefully. I myself stay completely away from estrogen products. Recurrence scares me to death. Good luck. There are many threads for support for the many different side effects.

Thank you. Going to try neurontin; praying that side effects do ease with time. Is there a particular thread that you have found to be most helpful?

sealight - since you are in active treatment, you really should call your MO before starting any drugs or supplements.
