Looking for FREE 3D nipple tattooing in S. Jersey/Philadelphia

This falls in the "after" category. I'm looking ahead a couple of months to getting 3D nipple tattoos. I'm in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. Does anyone know of a program that either does this for free (not done by students), or will work to get it covered by insurance. My carrier told me if it is deemed medically necessary it would be covered. I'm not able to travel outside of the area.

ESinNJ - the University of Penn has a tattoo artist.

You can pull more of her information on their website "Nipple tattooing is performed by Mandy Sauler, a micropigmentation specialist in plastic surgery at Penn Medicine."

I am not at that stage so i have not met with her yet.

    What is a "3D tattoo"?

It is a tattoo that is shaded to look like the natural projection of a nipple. Here is an example:

imageThese were done by Sasha at Dragonfly Ink in San Francisco. Not helpful to the op, but she does do them for free for a limited period of time each year

Thanks exbrnxgrl! That's basically what I thought a 'usual/normal' nipple tattoo would look like. I'm not into tattoing but do know several who are and all of the 'good'/'realistic looking tats they have all have shading. So just thought that nipple tats would be the same to look as close to 'natural' as posssible. Not that there wouldn't be differences as not all have the same knowlege and artistic talent.

So - does shading on any tat make it considered '3D'? Sorry for my ignorance but question is honestly asked.

As I said I'm not into tats (well, do still have 3 of my 4 from rads), there certainly are some tat artists who are absolutely artists in the truest sense of the meaning of artist - not all who do tats are though unfortunately.

    Thank you!

    Kicks,

It's more than just shading. The picture may not make it obvious but , it truly looks like the natural protrusion of a nipple. I do have a tattoo on my forearm which is is shaded and beautiful but does not look like it's protruding (nor would I want it to as I don't want it to look like the image is raised or jumping off my arm!). Think of it as the difference between a regular 2D movie and the very different effect you get when seeing a 3D movie. A 3D nipple really gives the "illusion of protrusion", which is not usually what people want with ornamental tats.

Mandy Sauler at Penn does the 3D tattooes. I am having tattoos (not 3D as I have had nipples made) on April 25th. Feel free to contact me directly if I can help

Mombytheriv. Is Mandy Sauler doing your tattoos? May I ask what her fee is? Or do you know if she works with insurance to get it covered? Thanks.

He does. Strictly cash. Just researching to see if any artists offer free tattooing. There is a place near me, but the students do it. I don't want to take that chance.
