Pat01- I don't carry the coolers. I switch the food to thermal bags because my girl (foster daughter with Angelman Syndrome ) delivers with me. I deliver to an apartment building so I push her in her wheelchair (lightweight convaid stoller). I hang one on the chair and carry one. She carries all the extra in her lap. We love our route! Those are our people! They were surprised to see me back so soon. I didn't tell but a few of them I was having surgeryand 2 that I love dearly cried. We are the only "family" a few of them have. I deliver 2 days a week but am starting back with one for 2 weeks. I meet with the oncologist today. Wish me luck!

Luck! We deliver Meals on Wheels each September (that's our church's month), and it really is such a wonderful, touching experience (my DH is the driver because I am so directionally challenged that the poor clients would be starved to death by the time I'd find their houses!).

In a few minutes I'm meeting a friend for some sort of Fitness On Demand exercises. Back later......

Ruthbru- great news 10 healthy years! Amazing too that you subbed for 8th grade math. I teach 8th grade English, so I'm with you in middle school joy! I mean that honestly. I love the photos of the walking ladies. You all inspire me.

Falconer, middles school kids (and teachers) are the best. I taught at the middle school level for 38 years & sub only there (I am scared of both little AND big kids ). All the Wednesday Walking Women in the pictures are retired teachers (or friends of ours), and we walk on Wednesday because it's Hump Day, and at 8am because that's when school starts.

Speaking of teachers, on Saturday I fly off to Florida to spend the week with three of my oldest friends. We met way back in 1975 when we were (wild and crazy) young teachers together. We had so much fun that we still try to get together a couple times a year. Being the worst packer in the world, I have every single summery piece of clothes heaped in a pile on top of my bed at the moment. ARGH!

My friend and I did a dance routine in the Fitness On Demand room, then I rode a bike for awhile & did some toning. Okay.......now I have to go back to the packing. Wish me luck!

    Ruth-congrats on 10 years; amazing!

Falconer-I grew up in Greenwich but now I live at the completely other end of the state. I stillhave lots of family down there. I hope your appt went well.

I am finally bouncing back from strep. Thanks for the well wishes. Looking forward to a massage tomorrow after school and Zumba on Saturday morning. Today it was 60 degrees and sunny. I even ate my lunch outside which is very unusual for February in CT.

Have fun in Florida, Ruth! Badger, great place to walk. Ginger, glad you are feeling better.

Chased after DD and a friend of hers on a trail run last Wednesday. I finally did manage to run the whole course in enough time to make my finish "excellent" for 50+ women. Yesterday was a lot of city walking and sprints to catch trams and trains.

Congrats on the 10 years Ruth.

Worked out last night and hit a new milestone. I usually get 3200 steps out of a workout but last night I noticed that my step count had increased to 3400.

Have a wonderful time in Florida Ruth - and with all the packing you've been doing these past few years you should be getting much better at it Loopy

This morning went to LM BodyBarre and yesterday did Body Combat.  It is downright cold here in SoCal I believe the east coast has our weather!!!!

Cheryl- you're right! Spring is in the air here in NY. Ran around the baseball field racing my three year old tonight. We tied.

Have a safe trip, Ruth. From one MS teacher to another- hope your trip is lit

Ruth - have a great time in Florida and congrats on 10 years! I've got my 5-year coming up in November and am looking forward to the end of Arimidex. Will be starting my own packing soon for two weeks in new zealand. Picked up my new zealand $$ today so getting super excited. Looks like play money though, it's SO colorful! Cheryl - what does 'downright cold' mean to a SoCal gal? Weather has been pretty awesome around here for February - I was driving around this week with my sunroof and driver window open. It's cooling down again now and we'll probably pay for the beautiful weather with monster prices for all the fruit that budded in Feb then froze.

Been lurking much more than posting lately, mostly because posting from my notepad is a pain in the you know what. I can type 80 plus wpm on a real keyboard but this thumb typing sucks! Haven't missed a Tuesday/Thursday body sculpt since the first of the year and faithfully do 30 minutes on the treadmill after each class. Sometimes go to gym on Saturdays but not always.

Congrats on 10 years Ruth! That is a milestone. 12 miles on the stationary bike tonight. I realize the new gym is just not working out. I don't think I am an exercise class person. I just want to do my own thing. Back to Planet Fitness. Hopefully will get back on track again. 12 miles on the stationary bike today. That is a good start!

Badger - I leave my suet up year round, I live in the northeast. But I'm not a bird feeding expert, so hopefully those with some knowledge will chime in. I'm really getting into the birds these days, hoping to attract bluebirds and orioles to the yard this year.

Varga - sounds like you have the meals thing covered! I know what you mean about family. My Mom had meals on wheels for a while, and she so looked forward to the visits every day. I've only been doing it a short while, but so look forward to my clients - one of them noticed a college sweatshirt I had on, and it turned out her grandson went to high school and college with my son - small world!

Sweet, New Zealand was one of my all time favorite trips. We did a week on the north island, and two weeks on the south island (and this was in their winter). just spectacular.

Went and saw Marcia Ball the other night, she was fabulous as always - then hubby and I got to talking about another concert we wished we could go to (The Riders) but they are only playing down south for a short tour. So he says - "lets go see them in Nashville!" and I was totally on board. Booked a quick 4 day trip to Nashville the end of March, coinciding with his birthday. Love the freedom being retired offers!

Another beautiful day yesterday here, so we rode our bikes down to the beach. Haven't been on a bike in a while, I am feeling it this morning. Later we are off to see a college lacrosse game, my grand nephew (who I barely know) is playing, so we will meet his parents at the game and learn about lacrosse.

    Thanks, Pat!

The worst of the weather held off until I was home from mom's last night. We only got an inch or two of snow but there's a coating of ice over everything. Got the mailbox open with a good thump but the side door from the garage is frozen shut. Hoping it melts in the sun otherwise I have to get out the hair dryer. Inconvenient to use the front door.

Walked the Capitol at noon break yesterday. Logging 3.5 miles for Fri plus 20 mins Shovel & Sculpt for today.

Pat you will love Nashville, justbwalk bar to bar and listen to great music also I highly recommend the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum it's really good, Nashville city center is small and easily walkable. Sweet yesterday morning it was 41 and the morning it was 39 so for us that is really cold it goes up to 58 but next week back up to the 70s. You will love NZ, eat a cream cake for me also hope you get to go to Queensriwn and Milford Sound they are both great places and if you do go to Queenstiwn the Shotover is a must. Great job on those extra steps Mommy. Badger stay warm glad you made it home before the weather. Kay sorry your new gym didn't work out for you but now you know what works for you so you are ahead of the game.

This morning went to Body Combat, my knees are creaking and cracking lately so I'm back on the glucosamine, I sure hope it kicks in quickly.

Edited to add: Wonderland I got the S'mores Girl Scout cookies, they are covered in chocolate so you know they have gone to the top of my GS Cookie "must buy" list!!!

50 minutes on the treadmill this morning (including 14 one-minute runs) followed by 30 minutes on recumbent bike while I watched an episode of 'Reign' on Netflix on my phone (I'm absolutely hooked on that show!). Treated myself to a blueberry blitz protein recovery shake afterward.

Cheryl - we fly into Auckland and then immediately to Queenstown. DH has a 5-day red stag hunt then we head over toward Milford Sound and up the coast. Plan to train over the mountains from West coast to Christchurch where we fly back to Auckland. We're traveling with our best friends. While DH is doing his hunt the three of us will spend 2 nights at the ranch with him and then we have rented a house in Queenstown for three nights. We're gonna fit in as much as we can in our two weeks and will come back home pleasantly exhausted. Suggestions for must see things in Queenstown would be great!

Prayer of thanks for a young co-worker who had a scare of possible Paget's disease of the breast. After a biopsy and a week of worry (and don't we all know what that's like!) she got the news yesterday that it was negative - YAY!

    Love to all❤❤❤

Had a wonderful time in San Antonio. The conference was great and the weather couldn't have been better. Got more walking in than I thought I would, averaged over 23K steps/day. The woman I roomed with was great, we had fun together. I walked every morning early along the Riverwalk, and tried to walk during the day then we walked at night. Three times, I walked to a vegetarian restaurant that was 40 minutes each way. The food was well worth the walk. Riverwalk was fun. Also saw the Alamo and we went to the Tower of Americas the last night. Theonly negative to the trip was my flight was delayed over 2 hours coming home. Will post photos later. They are on my phone and I'm on my iPad.

    Sweet dreams.

So great to see everyone getting some exercise especially w the beautiful weather in the NE.

Mommyof2- glad to hear you felt up to moving!

Ginger48- Greenwich is a nice place to visit, as they say. This time I traveled there w my neighbor, who is 83 and doesn't drive much. He used to live there too, so he wanted to visit a dear even older friend who is nearing 90. I was happy to facilitate their reunion, as I think they both wonder how many more opportunities they'll have to spend together. There's a chance I might have my DIEP surgery there. PM some good eateries if you can! MyDH will need to know. BTW I've never tried Zumba. Is it difgicult

I have been a runner for 20 years before my diagnosis. Almost half way on chemo now and I still manage to get out and do some light running every week. ....if I am not up to it I walk out over the fields. Fresh air / exercise is helping keep my sanity through the whole thing so I plan to keep doing what I can until my treatment ends in June. Do whatever you like to do and what pace or amount you like it is all about helping you in the mind as well as the body. Go ladies and stay strong ... best wishes to all

You are so right, Felloco. Exercise and nature save my sanity.

Scottie fabulous success on your new eating plan! I am back on 100 percent Paleo until I lose 7 lbs!

Everyones trips are giving me the vacation bug. San Antonio, Florida, New zealand- they all sound good!

Wow Badger such a beautiful state capitol! I have seen it from the outside but gorgeous inside!

I have two thirty minute walks to report since I was last here but my exercise dropped since winter came back!

Felloco, I agree too! Today it took me 40 minutes to run/walk three miles. Anytime I can get out is worth it, even if I'm slower than I was before.

hi all and welcome Felloco1. Great pic, Karen, I recognize that bridge. We were there!

Cheryl, glad you got your GS cookies and that they are the chocolate-covered s'mores.

TH I love our state Capitol. Pics don't do it justice. I took one of the free tours and glad I did. Got up to the observation deck a few summers ago. Stunning views! Nice to walk there in winter when it's cold out, and summer when it's hot out. I start on the first floor and walk a few laps, then take stairs to second floor and walk a few more laps, then take stairs to third floor and walk a few more laps.

The capitol beat press room is on the third floor and it's cool to walk past and see the reporters at work. I've seen all manner of elected officials including Supreme Court Justices, the heads of the Senate & Assembly, and Governors past & present.

Sunny day and maybe 40 this afternoon, warm enough to walk. Have a great week ahead, everyone!
