Shoulder & Neck Pain - Possible Brain mets?

Options

Has anyone ever had the following symptoms besides myself?...Achy, dull pain in left shoulder (Cancer was in right), spreads across front to clavicle area and into bicep of arm, sometimes base of neck and behind ear. Just the entire area. PCP says I need PET scan due to so many symptoms. Onc says no, there was no evidence of bone mets on bone scan and CT of chest and abdomen was clear. Sent me to ortho, who says it is bursitis. I'm not comfortable with this dx. Tired, irritable, in pain...now the thumb and pointer finger of that arm are going numb?? I'm not a happy camper!! Anyone else have anything similar that lead to mets dx? Would like some kind of reassurance that I'm not crazy.

numbness like that can be caused from herniated cervical discs pressing on a nerve. I'd see a neurologist who can diagnose properly. Good luck. Hopefully its just a pinched nerve and perhaps even PT can relieve it.

I have the same symptoms though they're all on my left side- Mx side. I had a CT scan of my brain that was all clear. Saw the dentist bc the ENT I saw for the ear pain said TMJ. Been doing isometric exercises for that and seeing an acupuncturist. I'm with you though. The pain is difficult to see as side effects from all we've been through. However that's what I tell myself. Trying not to imagine mets is hard to do but necessary for peace of mind.

I did find this article which really seemed to define my symptoms:

I had almost the same symptoms and ended up being partially torn rotator cuff

I can't say that I have the exact same thing? And my experience is very periodic, comes and goes with no apparent routine. I have osteoarthritis and asked my rheumatologist if it could possibly be a new symptom. That was negative and she says it is probably a side effect of the anastrazole (I changed from letrozole because I could not tolerate it).

I hope you continue your enquiries to your medical team, until you are reassured and satisfied with the answers. Best of luck

I had symptoms like that after my second exgiva shot, shoulders and neck cramping, felt like needed neck popped, but a little difference, it went away after 6 days. still no explanation.

I would check on discs in neck. Sounds like possible pinched nerve.

Ortho did say I had partial tears in both rotator cuffs, but felt I had bursitis but am not a candidate for steroid shots due to Type I diabetes.. Felt time would heal. But time has only worsened the condition. Thanks for all the replies!

My good friend had very similar symptoms. Shoulder pain spreading across chest, arm going numb several times a day. It ended up being a tramped nerve in the posterior shoulder muscle. She's much better after lots of physical therapy. I hope you find answers and ultimately good news.

I did over 2 years of Pt/Ot starting with a lymphedema specialist.  Pain increasing, not getting better.  Lightening, stabbing pains in my chest.   I have tried acupuncture, deep tissue massage, shiatsu massage, chiropractic treatment, essential oils, anti-inflammatories, narcotics, stretching, hydrotherapy, trigger point injections, etc.   Anyway 3 years later, I am to the point where I can hardly get out of bed or do anything, and beg for mercy.   They finally do an MRI and discover that I have a torn rotator cuff.   Seriously?   3 years later?   Who else had this problem?

Chae - I think that's the good news. You can have surgery for a torn rotator cuff and be right as rain after PT. I know it's frustrating, but glad it's not BC.

I have also been having neck pain that emanates up towards my head behind my ear on left side--diseased breast was also on left. My ear hurts and I get this dull pain on that side of my head. I have blurred vision on that side as well, but also have frequent tears in my retinas. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it sound like anything to check out
