Sweat and rashes under my "good" boob.....

I'm a uni., any suggestions?...I use rubbing alcohol for the rashes and baby powder.

    I am a uni as well   and have had a number of different rashes UGH   Hydrocortizone cream if itchy     I would also check with your Onc.  I have had a reaction to medication - so took a break for a week; shingles just UGH, and now it looks like a thing called Grover's disease    All have needed different treatment to get rid of the rash.

    Rubbing alcohol is not appropriate (according to all I've been told) to use on 'rashes'. H2 O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is good for skin issues. I use it all the time.

    Baby powder/talc is also not that great to use on skin as it's molecular structure is similar to 'sandspurs'. Corn starch is good to use.

    Kicks: Thank you. I've heard corn starch from another person too. I googled some natural remedies and cold ice compresses seem to have helped cool down my rash. I'm forgetting about the rubbing alcohol and baby powder.

    This is a message from my oncologist on the subject:

    You can purchase over the counter miconazole powder (used for athelete's foot) and it should work for the fungal infection. It's aeration that is the most important and than means keeping it dry. Use lotion rather than creams and make sure you cleanse the bras regularly.

    Under the breast is a pain to treat as it is a warm and moist environment, and kind of hard to air out, unless you can hang upside down naked somewhere (hubby's suggestion when I had the same problem).

    Freya, good idea from your hubs if possible. lol

    The ice compresses cool down the breast so far.

    Pabbie, FWIW, I had problems with sweating and rashes with my first mastectomy bras, which were all nylon and polyester. I thought I needed all that structure to hold my prosthesis, but it turned out to be overkill, especially when I got my knitted knocker. I got a lot more comfortable when I switched to all-cotton bras, which breathed much better. If you haven't already tried that, you might as well. A good fitter will work with you. HTH

    Thank you. I will check out my bras and start changing over to 100% cotton. My insurance will pay for more bras in May. I also ordered an "Awesome Breastform" which I think is similar to the "Knitted Knocker."

    Amygil81: I checked my mastectomy bras and they are from "ABC"., and the body of the bra is 93% cotton & 7% spandex., and the Pockets are 95 % cotton and 5% Spandex.

    cliff: I just bought some corn starch per recommendation. If that doesn't help, I will buy some Gold Bond medicated powder.
