Went to dentist yesterday for quarterly cleaning & was told all my pockets are deep & possible bone loss.

Need to start with deep cleanings later next week in all 4 quadrants.

Asked for Keflex as I had read here that was recommended antibiotic to keep with you in case of infection, etc.

I have taken Keflex in past & can tolerate it.

They want to give me Clindamycin.

Any opinions or should I push for the Keflex.

Thanks.

I keep Keflex in case of cellulitis in my LE arm. I did not find it helpful at all for infection after wisdom teeth removal. My dentist prescribed 2 meds, metronide 400mg and cilicaine VK 500mg and things improved in a few hours.

thanks. My dentist says I do not need an antibiotic for the work they are doing (deep cleaning & scaling) as I am having antibiotics put in my gums. Of course he asked what doctor told me I needed to take one as precaution and I tried to explain my concerns about LE. My BS keeps telling me I am not as risk and when I go for checkups a large NCI breast cancer center has no leg cuffs to do BP!
