badger: you may want to buy more s'mores in case your council runs out of them. We don't know when more will be available here and there's only 3 more weeks left in the sale.
Cheryl: hope your s'mores are the chocolate covered ones. I have not tried the other that is like a sandwich. I know the chocolate covered ones are very tasty.
Walked/ran late this afternoon
-
It was nice enough yesterday afternoon for a walk outside! I had time before meeting my friend for dinner & show (which was GREAT) and used it wisely. :-)
-
Helped my hubby shovel the driveway from the snow that came overnight
-
Thanks for the kind anniversary wishes! Yesterday was a down day as I took DH in for his stent placement, the worse situation on the right side of the heart. Took him home early evening and he is fine, although he not to drive, so I am his chauffeur this weekend. He goes in again next Friday for 3 more stents on the left and then done for now. These smores Girl Scout cookies look yumbo! Cheryl, LM are a bit scattered, no London date or venue yet for the Tribe Gathering. Ginger and Ruth for you wonderful teachers.
Body Balance this morning.
-
Hit the treadmill yesterday and today for a two mile walk jog. Watched Parks and Rec and every so often had to hit pause to lean over and laugh hard. God I love those people.
-
hi all and welcome Falconer. Walked three laps around the park path this morning. Did the grocery shopping and bought two more boxes of s'mores cookies from the GS who had a table there. Got the ingredients for chili as been hankering for it. I have the January books to finish and should start a load of laundry but the couch is calling for a nap!
-
I did 45 minutes of toning & chopped some more ice.
Welcome, Falconer!
Lilac, if that Bear Chair comes on rollers, I want one!
-
Record high in Denver on Friday...hottest day in February ever! 80! Way too hot for me, especially this time of year. Today was much cooler, probably in the 50s or 40s but no sun so felt colder. Hubby got home yesterday 😀
Sweet dr

Going to brag a bit:
I've been exercising regularly for over two months now! Pilates 2 times a week ---> much less back and neck pain. Skiing and exercise bike or aerobic class 2 -3 times a week --- and at my final Herceptin heart ultrasound last week (last dose was the beginning of last November) all the EKG abnormalities are gone, heart looks normal, and my ejection fraction is significantly higher now ---65% -- than before treatment even started (55%). And even my son agrees I'm finally growing muscles in my arms --- well, at least little ones
I haven't been posting here much, but I come to this thread when I start making excuses to not exercise ---- and reading all your posts gives me motivation motivation to getback on track.
Thank you!
-
hi tessu, good to see you and great results! Agree this thread is inspirational and fun, and love that we have members from all over the globe. Finland!
We had rain overnight so it's a bit wet but the sun is peeking through the clouds. Will get out and walk once I've had a bit more coffee.
-
Sticking to the house today. May do a load of laundry and a workout later.
-
Very awesome, tessu!!!!!!
Did the treadmill and will do some pilates this afternoon.
-
Pilates then some hand weights -- done
-
60 minutes on treadmill yesterday (including eight 2-minute 'wogging' segments). Nothing planned for today except up and down the stairs doing several loads of laundry.
-
Lots of Declutter and Sculpt Friday (home office closet) and Saturday (garage). At the end of the day yesterday the car was completely stuffed with stuff to toss at the transfer station. And we can fit both cars in the garage for the first time in months! It feels really good to open the garage door and see so much space
Elliptical/bike/dreadmill run today.
-
Thats good news on your heart functiom, Tessu. Good work.
LB a speedy recovery for your DH.
Falconer thats the best kind of diversion from treadmill if you have to pause to laugh. Hubby and I got a good laugh at SNL skit of Trump on Peoples Court this morning. My goodness he has given them a lot of material.
Karen I will take your 80 degrees!
I was a bit of a slacker this week so I decided I had to do something despite having a cold. I walked 40 minutes yesterday but more of a stroll. So little energy but I felt a little better afterward. Today we have bright sunshine so I went for a 30 minute walk and hoping i will see some kind of energizing effect.
-
Sunny here too with a bright blue sky but windy and colder than I thought so only walked 20 mins. Getting in stairs today, though, as bringing up boxes from the basement to finally unpack. Have not yet found the lid to my crock pot so chili is simmering in the soup pot. Mac & cheese all prepped and ready to pop in the oven once DH gets home from work. Have a great week ahead, everyone!
-
Back in snowstorm weather today. Did Zumba, assisted pull ups and a short jog on the dreadmill yesterday.
-
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
wow! Karen1956! Amazing warm temps! We could use some here in the NE. I haven't gone outside much the past couple days, even though I offered to help w the shoveling, my kids and the DH took care of it. So I'm slogging through a yoga practice. I gained 10 pounds since August and I can really feel it. Meh. Well there's only one way to get it off. Thanks for the encouragement. And yes, TwoHobbies, I too have been getting a kick out of SNL too!
-
Well didn't get to the laundry today. But I did get another workout in the form of shoveling thanks to the latest storm that came through and dumped snow on us again as Ginger talked about in her post.
-
Welcome Faloner!
Badger: glad you bought more cookies.
Mary: decluttering is such a good feeling.
Hi everyone! It's been too warm here. Yesterday was in the 70s and today it was 83. It feels good but disturbing at the same time. I don't know how anyone can dispute global warming.
Sat in the sun and walked yesterday. Today we have the windows open, sat in the sun, and had a rest day.
-
40's yesterday and today. Warming up to 50's and 60's as the week goes on. Neighbors saw Hubby and me and made snide remarks! Both men and both in lousy shape!!! I don't enjoy any other day exercise, but walking outdoors is therapeutic for me! As long as I can walk, I will and to heck with the snide remarks! One was basically telling DH I have him on a leash! When I think about it, it ticks me off! Enough of a rank!
Need to look at work emails tonight and do some paperwork!
NE people, stay safe.
-
Good grief; people have become jerky!!!!!!
-
Karen, some people suck! Don't let them get to you.
I have been following, but haven't done much. I was sick with a terrible cough for a couple of weeks, and now hurt my back shoveling snow on Thursday. It was only a couple of inches, but it was that really wet, heavy kind that we seem to get here in Philly a lot. Today was just rain, I think it was about 40. Getting back on track tomorrow. I think my back is okay. Thanks for all the motivation. I need it.
-
That snow shoveling is brutal!
I think of all the jerky people (who probably are all big, flabby things) who were knocking Lady Gaga at the Super Bowl for her little tummy. Until they are willing to dive off the roof of a stadium while singing, I think they should SHUT UP! So you and DH were in good company, Karen! That is my rant for the evening!!
-
Welcome Falconer. Tessu how wonderful keep up the good work. Wonderland I am so bummed, went to get my cookies today and she didn't have mine she'd sold them to someone else so I just got some plain ones and she's ordering me my S'mores and Thin Mints, guess they are very popular. LB wishing your DH a speedy recovery.
Ahh Karen what jerks, we have a local thread on FB and last night a poor young girl serving popcorn at a movie theatre was confronted by a jerk who didn't want her to serve him cause 'you don't belong here' only wanted to be served by a male, then told the male 'we gotta stick together' what in the hell is happening, it's frightening.
Yesterday did Body Combat and today CX Works and Body Flow. -
Hello, new friends, I'm new to all of this. Was just returning to exercise & healthy living in general after 10 years of pretty total neglect. Motivated by your activities & looking for inspiration about getting a little healthier now before my 3/10 surgery, and getting right up as soon as reasonable afterwards.
Any opinions about starting a plan now that will work in the months after surgery/during radiation are very welcome.
Thank you for being here!
-
Welcome gently and walking is a great start and will carry you through active treatment with terrific benefit - helping to reduce deep fatigue that comes from chemo and radiation treatment. Welcome to you too Falconer. Karen, what noisy, snotty neighbors you have. Thanks TW & Cheryl ! DH went to London for work feeling brighter and I dare say, better color, less pale and pallid. Son is in bed on term break for the week and will not rise before 1pm. Must jump have Pink Pilates soon, Blockfit and Body Balance tonight.
Have a good start to the week everyone and wow on those late winter high temps!
-
A year ago I put "cross-country ski ten more times" on my Bucket List. Just came in from a glorious #9 =D
Edit to add: and just came back from Pilates
-
Whew - so much to catch up on - my resolution to be on here more is not working, as it's been almost two weeks since I last posted. Congrats to the anniversaries and birthdays. And welcome to all the new people.
Mary - yes, I have been to Ireland a couple of years ago, just beautiful!
Being from New England, we were thrilled with the superbowl, what a comeback. I do understand the Patriots are hated in most of the country, but around here we say "that one was for you Roger".
Son is back to his normal life and all my company is gone, so faced with the February doldrums. Been dealing with some significant snow, so some shovel and sculpt going on, but not a lot of walking. Got up this morning to do classical stretch but my back wasn't hearing it, so I decided I would walk the neighborhood, but hubby said the roads weren't plowed yet, so erred on the side of caution (laziness lol) and stayed inside. Plus it's super windy, don't want to get hit with falling branches!
Spent almost two hours on the phone with my niece the other day, who just finished chemo and has her mastectomy scheduled. She is a strong woman, even though it's been 5 plus years for me, she still likes being able to talk to someone who went through this. I've also been spending my inside time going through closets, and found all my medical paperwork from my active treatment days - except for the diagnosis sheets, I tossed all of it into the woodstove, officially putting that behind me. I also found a wonderful note from my sister-in-law that she sent to me after surgery. This is my nieces Mom, and shortly after she wrote that note she was diagnosed with lung cancer, which ultimately took her life. I am going to send this note to my niece after her surgery, I'm sure it will mean a lot to her.
