Should I be concerned about skull mets?

I had a bone scan in November that I'm assuming covered me from skull to toes, and all looked normal. There was a small something in my thoracic spine, but that was revealed to be mild degeneration upon further review.

For the past week I've had this pain in the eye socket of my left eye. It's not pain *in* my eye, it's behind it. When I press firmly on the bone of my socket it hurts more, but it's been sore constantly for the last week, even without me applying pressure to it. It's worse at night when I lie down, and this morning when I was working out and had my head down, I could really feel it. Is it possible that a bone met has developed and is putting pressure on a nerve?

How long do I wait before I say something? I'm currently getting rads for my recurrence, but I don't have as much of a relationship with my RO as with my MO, and I won't see my MO until March when rads are over. I don't want to be alarmist, but I also don't want to assume it's nothing.

Is it even possible that I would have a skull met with a clear bone scan and no node involvement?

    Emily- I was just told my scan showed skull mets. She said not to worry about it anymore then the other bone mets. Easier said then done. I sometimes have pain in the bone around my left eye and when I close that eye I see an image like scratches. Nothing I can do other then the treatment as planned. All scary. Maybe you can ask to re-look at your scan for reassurance

    Thanks, Dianarose. I'm so sorry for the progression of your bc.

    I'm just wondering if my scan would've shown anything or if my MO will want an MRI of my head. How were your skull mets detected?

    if you have a new symptom that has persisted for more than two weeks, I would get it looked at. The radiologist are not perfect and can miss things on scans. They can repeat the bone scan or do an MRI, but definitely let MO know.

    Thanks, ladies. I went to see my opthamologist today and he said my eyes look perfect, no signs of mets. If the weird pain in the bone persists another week I'll let my MO know. Ugh, life with bc...

    (((Emily2008))) I just thought I would weigh in...I have been experiencing pain behind my right eye and in the socket/eyebrow area for over 2 months...MRI's have been negative for any problems but the pain in the eye socket and the orbit continues. My Optometrist says I have an issue with the muscles that control the movement of the eye and that is what's causing the aching pain and some double vision when I look to the side. He thinks it is pressure on my 4th cranial nerve from a continuing sinus infection which he says can take months to resolve. I am at a loss as to what's going on but hope he is correct and it is a benign issue related to the nerves and muscles and not mets...geesh...I hate BC!     Emily, I also have pain but on my right eye. I had MRI everything ok, it is a pressure feeling and dry eye on my right side. I am not sure what is causing it. I am hanging tight until the pain gets worse.

    A few years back, I had pain in one eye, when I looked up and in one direction, it hurt the worst, turned out to be a sinus infection... just low grade lasted maybe for years before it became acute. Then I knocked it back with antibiotics and suffered another couple of years -- tooth pain, feeling crappy, I actually got a root canal! Oy! Finally a doc referred me to an ENT and with steriods and a month of antibiotics it is gone. Hope you figure out what is going on.
