elem, my dcis was deep, sitting right on my pectoralis muscle. Less than 1cm. No invasive. I'm not doing brachy, put partial breast radiation - every other day for just 5 days.

There are a number of options these days. Make sure you ask ro about which is right for you

Yes definitely ABoob .I have friend who had done brachy therapy for his prostate cancer . Evidently he is having some issues, but I have no idea the extent of his cancer or even if it had already metastasized to any other area . He did explain it and it sounds great as far targeting specific areas and not hitting organs such as heart and lungs and ribs . So It is available in St.George , but no one suggested this for me sovI will ask about this at my appoint. this week . I have both an MO and RO appointment backbto bsck on Wed. Also followup with BS . So I will pick wveryones brain this week .

    Hi Ladies

I go in tomorrow for my markings and then will have 25 treatments to breast and underarm I had 35 radiation treatments to my neck last year and had really no issues, towards the end my skin got red but was not painful in the least.....I am hoping for the same results this time My only issue last time was severe nausea but my RO said it was because it was my throat being treated

so hope I avoid that as well. The trips everyday for treatment are going to be a huge pain, last year during my radiation I was already hospitalized so it was a quick wheelchair trip down to the radiation dept. but I am home this time and it is a hour and 1/2 trip to the hospital

so I am sure between the drive and the treatment I will be pretty tired out towards the end.

yes, that includes my 2xday radiation, 3 times a week physical therapy, oncologist and the procedure tomorrow. Yes, this is quite a ride. I think this will be my most challenging two weeks yet. I'm always here for you too my friend. Don't know what I'd do without all of you

Fightingirl- Good Luck tomorrow! Looks like I am in it for the long haul 28 + 8 radiation treatments. Apparently Brachytherapy isn't in the cards for me. My MO sis suggest I ask the RO about hypofraction (higher dose, less treatments), so I will do that when I see him again. Now to get this seroma taken care of so that I can start!

Okay ladies, I'm all set for radiation on Thursday. I've got 14 catheters aiming directly at the cancer site ready to blast away any stray cells! It was a long day getting all set up but no pain during and so far minimal pain tonight. Of course, im staying on schedule with the pain meds to hopefully keep it at bay. They say today and tomorrow will be painful but by Thursday when the actual treatments start I will be fine.

    Hope you're all doing well!

BeachBabyK, I think annoyingboob is doing something like that? Accelerated partial breast radiation? I could be wrong...so many options available but I guess that's a good thing...cancer treatment has come a long ways but unfortunately there are still too many of us dealing with it.

Hope your day is going well so far. ❤️ Lots of love

Fightingirl - I must admit the visual I imagine is straight out of a sci-fi movie. I guess that makes you a movie star! I am hoping to get in soon, but my persistent seroma is delaying things. I go to get it drained yet again today. I am on the verge of asking for a drain (all the surgery girls would gasp in horror!) so I can get this party started! Let us know how the treatments go and rest up!

dang those seromas!! I have had that problem as well. I am going to have my lump in armpit checked by MO tomorrow as my physical therapist didn't think it is normal but she's not a doctor. It's a very hard lump so for peace of mind I'll have him check it out! I sure hope they get you drained once and for all...have a goo day!

i just wanted to share a tip for reducing skin side effects- i was part of a study using Calendula oil pre and post rad. The docs were bliwn away with the resulta and i experienced just slight redness. Ur docs may not want u to use anything pre radiation, but wait an hr or 2 after rad and apply a calendula oil mix: in a spray bottle mix 1 part purified water with 1 part calendula oil (available at whole foods. Health stores). It worked for me!

yes, I envision fightingirl like a breast porcupine with all kinds of catheters sticking out!!

I think I am accelerated partial breast, but I've been in a holding pattern this week and next so I guess I won't really know til I lie on the table and get zapped!

It's sad bc I am really feeling back to normal postop, so to have to go in and get knocked down again and recover, well, I'm exhausted just thinking about it. But I'll keep you posted next Friday about the plan.

    Xo

I will start with radiotherapy on 20th. Met the RO last week. She plans 30 sessions. She told me not to use any oil or cream during the therapy. The skin copes better if it's dry she said. I always read the opposite...

Had a CT and was told that my lung capacities are good so I can start tamoxifen and continue with it during radiotherapy. I went to my gynecologist and she agreed I can start as well. I'm actually very scared of tamoxifen but since the tumor was 100% ER+ nobody even asked me if I want it.

The strange thing was that my gynecologist told me she is not afraid of my BC but concerned about my ovaries. Not because of relapse risk, because I could get ovarian cancer and it is hard to cache early. She told me that I'm young with 36 years old onset and she would recommend a oophorectomy when I'm 42-43. She even told me I might be BRCA positive. My MO didn't talk about these things. Now I'm more scared than before............

Actually I'm not looking forward the radiotherapy since I'm so sick and tired to go to the hospital. I was very depressed during the weekly taxol days and cried so much even on the way to the hospital. Don't know if I can cope with this anymore.

    good luck Elvin and Patti1746!

Elvin, I know it's hard to hang in there some days! You have been through a lot already but you will know that you did everything you could to get rid of that stupid cancer. I know it all easier said than done but try not to worry now about what the gynecologist said...keep your focus on what's next and that seems to be 30 sessions. Maybe download a countdown app or use a calendar to mark them down and watch your progress. Maybe set some things you would like to treat yourself to at certain points of your treatment? You made it through chemo darling!!! You got this.

Hi there, I've just completed chemotherapy on the 8th Feb and have Radiotherapy starting 2nd March and as there is no March group yet thought I'd chat to these members if it's ok.

Had my CT scan and tattoos done a couple of days ago and checked out the lovely accommodations where I'll be living away from home for 3 weeks. Having 15 radiotherapy treatments to my right chest wall.

yes Patty1746! The worst! I think everyone would agree! Even though surgery and treatment is not fun...at least you feel like your getting somewhere!

6 more radiation treatments for me and these stupid catheters come out of my boob! Can't wait to take a real shower and put on a shirt that doesn't have to button up!

    welcome Shell72

You have been through a lot and congrats in finishing chemo . This group is a great bunch of strong women , I am sure you will find it very comfortable here.

Fightingirl, yes almost there ! I am probably going to pass on the hormones , just don't like the research ! Did my first rad of 20 today . It was easy peasy, but I hear you don't notice anything until a coulple of weeks in . But not everyone has an issue! Please let me be the one with no issues!

Patti, yep waiting sucks for sure! Hang in there .

A-boob you are almost there! Happy Valentines Day girls 💗

Happy Valentine's Day! I brought a big box of Godiva to the radiology office and told them it was a bribe! Watch out for my organs! haha

Today was first day of radiation and as others have said - easy and fast. At least I know what to expect for the next four weeks. Actually I got my schedule yesterday and 3 more boosts were added. I was surprised and didn't have a chance to speak to the doctor, but considering my specs - early stage, small tumor, slow growing- why more boosts? I thought the standard was 5.

Fightingirl - hope the six days go by fast.

Shell - I am sorry you have to be away for 3 weeks but I hope the accommodations are lovely and you weren't kidding around.

    Hi Patti1745,

Are you also scheduled to do hormone therapy after rads? Just wondering as your dx looks quite similar to mine.

Glad it went well so far . I too, had my first whole breast radiation today . Seems easy enough so far.

Patti - I am actually scheduled for 8 boosts along with 28 regular treatments. Not sure what standard is, but I was surprised that I have to do so many treatments since I had complete pathological response to chemo, but who knows? He's the specialist. Now if I could just get started!
