edited February 2017 in Waiting for Test Results

Hi! I am new here and I just had an ultrasound guided core biopsy done last Wednesday (2/1/17). They said the results will be out in 2-5 days so it means any day this week... :( I'm out of my wits right now and just trying to focus day by day.

I still can't believe I'm typing this message while my 2 year old is sleeping beside me. I'm 31 and just noticed an indentation on my R breast which is only visible when I put my arm up (not seen in supine according to my PCP and radiologist). Of course, I Googled everything which made my anxiety worse!

I am grateful to find this informative website with a lot of caring, brave and empowered women.

I haven't told anyone in my family except my husband, who's been so amazing and supportive. Whatever the result may be, I hope I can find the courage and strength you guys have in facing it.

Please include me in your prayers tonight. I am so scared and I don't know what else I could do. Thank you very much.

Best,

G

GB1985, welcome you to our community here at BCO. We know you're going through a scary and uncertain time, and we're sorry for that, but we're glad you've found this wonderful Community to share and vent while you wait.

We know it's not easy to stay away from the worst case... but please keep in mind that something like 80 percent of biopsies turn out to be benign.

Good luck with the results, we're thinking of you!

I have a biopsy on Thursday. They say 80% are benign, but it really doesn't make me feel better. I will hold you in my prayers! I hope we both get benign results. I have two young daughters. I look at them right now and it's hard not to cry with worry. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

    Hi Angela!

I just got a call from the doctor a few hours ago and she said they found a very rare kind of benign tumor, Spindle Cell Tumor with extensive involvement of the skeletal muscle (which they said probably caused the skin dimpling). The Dr. said it's usually found in the head and neck area. Very rare in the breast but if it's in the breast, it's very close to the chest wall (that's where the mass is located). They recommend for me to see a surgeon to take it out.

Good luck on your biopsy! I totally understand your worry and fear. Ever since I noticed the skin dimpling on my breast all I could think of was how to make each day special for my boy and husband. I hope everything goes well on Thursday. The biopsy was the easier part, it was the waiting that was difficult for me. I'm grateful I found this site, it calmed me a little bit and made me realize to take it one day at a time and try to do other things than check Dr. Google.

I'll think of you and and will keep you and your beautiful girls in my prayers.

    Grace,

I am very happy to hear it was benign. Will there be any other treatment beyond the surgery? I hope the surgery is minor and doesn't keep you down for long. Please know we are still around to support you if you need it. Thank you for the prayers.

    Angela,

I haven't discussed anything yet with the BS. My appointment is on Feb. 28. I hope that will be all and nothing else will be discovered.

I was wondering if the Mods or anybody here is familiar with Spindle Cell Tumor? Any information is appreciated.

    Best,

    Grace

GB1985, there is a forum for benign breast conditions, but it sounds like (from what you posted earlier) spindle doesn't present that often in breasts. It's worth a try.
