Waiting on Biopsy

Screening mammogram found assymetry in right breast. Went in for diagnostic and ultrasound today. Radiologist came in to say he wanted to do an ultrasound guided biopsy....birad 4. He said he was mildly concerned and the majority of the time the result is benign. I'm 43 with no family history but so upset and scared. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but have worked myself up over this biopsy. I do no tolerate lidocaine very well and the last time I had local anesthesia it made my heart rate soar. I guess I just need to vent. The waiting and anticipation is driving me nuts! Oh the biopsy is Wedneday afternoon....so only another day left.

    Anita, be sure and tell the doc/radiologist who does the biopsy that you do not react well to lidocaine well. Let him know the heart racing. I have to have carbocaine as it does not have the epinephrine that lidocaine and novacaine have. My reaction to nova/lido gradually increased each time until it really hit. So please do not worry about a reaction.

    Thanks for the replies. The biopsy was not bad at all. I did not feel a thing except the first needle and it felt like a small pinprick. I was worried over nothing. Now for thr wait. Praying for a quick response by Friday but more than likely next week.

    Waiting with you and it is the worst! Have my biopsy tomorrow and hoping it goes as easily and as well as you described.

    Hoping for you that you get your results sooner than later.

    I have an MRI guided biopsy next Thursday. Seems like a year away! I am waiting with you and thinking positive thoughts
