welcome coffeelattee, 30k is the exception for me. My goal is 15k/day. I started with 10k as a goal. The only exercise I do is walking. It is very therapeutic for me. I walk before walk, do my best during the work day to get out of the bldg for at least 20 minutes, but that doesn't always happen and rhen walking after dinner. My walks are about 25 minutes around the neighborhood. I used to walk in the mall early if the weather is bad, but I no longer enjoy the mall. I really feel the difference when I don't walk! Whatever exercise you do is great. My competition is only with myself!
WeSther is going to be in the 60's the next couple days then the 50's. Winter will be back though, but I'll take the warm weather for now

Coffeelattee, welcome and in good walking company on this thread! Ruth, I've enjoyed your photos and nice to see the sun.
Got back last night from two days of intense training and W0W. Spent twenty hours (8am - 6pm) in a small gym room in the Les Mills offices in London with no windows, so we stayed focused entirely on lectures, corporate videos, drills and track presentations. The most remarkable thing was that only 4 of us where on this Aim 2, so we were able to get quite a bit of attention and it was not the physical burnout if it hit the maximum of 12. No one was British, the trainer was Malaysian, the RPM (spin) woman was French, one Body Pump man from Sri Lanka, and a Body Pump woman from Lithuania and me, Body Balance -- American. The trainer came down from Scotland and I from Kent and the others live in London. It really was amazing and will be interesting to see how my shifted teaching lands with my class tonight - so looking forward to this. This was a physically and mentally challenging two days and the best training I've experienced with LM thus far -- well worth the time and £. Have to dash as I need to take my son to school as he has a 5 foot long copper pipe to take in for a design technology project.
Have a terrific start to the weekend everyone!
-
Karen, congrats on 30K! Still dreaming of that one for myself. Proud of you for representing American women, LB! Saying hi to Mary after her long break.

If at first you don't succeed, try try again! (Badgers are known for persistence.)
I know the thread exists! NatsFan started it and I have posted there. Odd link issues yesterday. :-)
-
Badger, it worked! Thank you, it is a great thread.
-
Flexibility/strength training class this morning. Now back home watching big fat flakes of snow come down. No real accumulation expected - just pretty to watch.
-
Took a long walk this morning and am now at the airport waiting for the plane. Back to reality.....brrrr......
-
Great video, Badger!
Back at Zumba today. Knee was much better. Tomorrow I head to Boston for my annual check up with my breast surgeon.
-
I am safely home. I am going to do yoga and abs today. I gained 3 pounds on my vacation; even with all that exercise, so I need to behave in the food department!
-
Had an appointment in DC this morning so took the opportunity to walk around the sights and get some steps in. Yoga stretches this afternoon
-
My goodness you don't log on for a few days and it takes pages to catch up.... been crazy busy with Birthday and Chinese New Year celebrations over the past week. Welcome back Mary wonderful to see you and welcome coffeelatte. Ruth glad you had a nice vacation, sorry about the #s but that Mexican meal did look absolutely delicious so probably worth it
, I am dreading getting on the scale as I've done nothong but eat, eat, eat this past week and loads of cake was involved
LB sounds like you had a wonderful AIM, they are great learning experiences - there are a couple of AIM1s happening in San Diego on Friday and Sunday as there is a Super Q down there on Saturday, so you know where I'll be this weekend. I'm trying to declutter my office Badger, shredding and filing and slowly getting done but I keep stopping and making myself cups of tea - I think I'm procrastinating!!!
Did Cardio Dance Party class last night.
-
Here is the food Cheryl was referring to (if you want to be my Facebook friend, you too could see this and other exciting pictures of food ). It's kind of a miracle that I ONLY gained 3 pounds!
-
Icancelled checkup in Boston due to nasty stomach virus hitting. Within 8 hours, first me then DH then DD. This is a rough one. I passed out twice and now I have a fever.
-
Oh yuck! Keep as hydrated as you can.......
-
I found this picture of Cheryl, me, badger & patoo in Minneapolis with Mary Tyler Moore on our first Exercise Thread Road Trip in 2011.
-
Love the photo Ruth!
Did a fairly long walk today, and my knees are starting to feel stronger, because I am forcing myself to walk more. Yay! (and thanks for the inspiration)

Just shoveled all the snow we got after hubby had shoveled yesterday. No more working out today.

Yikes, this thread does move quickly. Mary, I too have developed a love for birds since being retired. It's a fun hobby! Where are your Irish ancestors from? My mom was born in County Galway. Love having my son home for these two weeks, we are keeping him busy when he isn't in class. Last weekend was our annual soupy making event, soupy (or sopresetta) is a dry cured sausage that we hang in the rafters of our garage. Big group of friends and family gather to make it, and you can buy in for a share. Delicious, and I love the way my garage smells right now. This weekend is super bowl, good friends of ours who moved to Virginia are coming up so we can all get together and watch the Patriots win! Son is going to stay the weekend to watch too, as his wife is working this weekend so no need to rush home - will be a blast. With all my company I haven't been exercising much, will get back on the wagon next week. Now off to deliver meals on wheels, my first time solo, hope I find everyone!
-
Good luck, Pat. I'm so terrible with directions that DH and I always deliver Meals on Wheels together. The poor people would be starved to death by the time I'd find them myself!
-
Ginger - hang in there! Hope you feel better soon. Great picture Ruth! Octogirl - good job! Be sure to ice your knee after exercise if you get swelling after exercise - it really helps. Mommy - Shovel N Sculpt absolutely counts as a strenuous workout! Pat - on my mom's side my family came from County Clare. Have you gotten the chance to get to Ireland? It's beautiful. Your soupy event sounds like fun.
Elliptical/bike/dreadmill run circuit this morning.

Today WWW is celebrating the Alternative Super Bowl: Vikings vs Eagles (with one Dolphin holdout). Since we are right next door to Minnesota, most of us are Vikings fans & Carson Wentz, the rookie quarterback for the Eagles, is from North Dakota. We are holding a deflated football in honor of the upcoming non-alternative Super Bowl on Sunday
.
-
Gosh Ginger that sounds awful, hope you feel better soon and yes try and get your electrolytes up with hydration. Shovel and sculpt is definitely hard work Mommy. Ruth I loved that trip, I'm so glad we decided on a "meet up" what adventures we've had and what wonderful people we've met with.
Last night did Sprint then a secret class that I can't discuss till next week followed by LM BodyBarre, then this morning did Grit Strength, trying to get back up on the exercise wagon, I'm loving these 30 minute formats.
-
I just gained rwo pounds looking at Ruths Mexican meal!
Ginger I have heard stomach flu is going around. Get well soon.
Not feelling fab here. i did half a yoga class yesterday and A little mini tramp this evening, but so low energy. I will try again tomorrow.
-
DH is out of town visiting our daughter and I can't make myself walk the past 2 nights...so walked around the house to get steps in....still a bit short for today.
Forecast for tomorrow morning is dense fog and 1/10th inch ice.....dreading the morning commute. Hoping for a late start, but I'm not getting my hopes up! I'll check the district website when I wake up around 5:30 to see whats up. I'm one who drives slow in bad weather, but ice is a whole different ball game...I don't trust the other drivers. I worry about my son driving to work...he has to be there at 7:00 am (actually late for him) but it is a good 1/2 hour. I guess we never stop worry about our kids!!
Sweet dreams
-
TH, LOL I was thinking the same thing in kilos! Ginger, feel better soon. Have some ginger tea (no pun intended)!
Due to water damage at my gym, there are no classes for a whole month. Maybe this is my cue to finally try out cross country skiing or fat tire biking in the snow. Tonight I have a free trial lesson for ballroom dancing at an Arthur Murray Studio.
-
45 minute yoga DVD this morning. I hadn't done Warrior I and II in a while - whew! I'm gonna feel those later
-
Going to do a workout tonight. Bumping it up to 25 minutes and if I feel good enough I just might go the full 30
-
Well, the college (which took over the YMCA space) will allow former members to come in and work out from 5am-9am until they start remodeling in April. A friend and I went over this morning and did a Cardio Dance DVD & Pilates DVD in the Fitness on Demand room. I've been house cleaning this afternoon. Ballroom dancing sounds fun, Heidi!
Speaking of dancing, check out this link. Be sure to watch it to the end, it is hysterically funny!

Got the full 30 minutes in on the workout. Felt good
-
Great video Ruth! Funny how I appreciate Lawrence Welk so much more now as an adult.
Really liking my new job. Corporate philosophy values employee well-being. Nice change!
Been in training the last two weeks. Feel ready for some "real" work but that will come soon enough.
