i pulled my ulatrasound mammogram reports.

* coreresponding to the mammographic nodule located high in axilarry tail is a 1.4 x 0.9 x 1.3 cm hypoechoic mass containing internal vascularity with circumscribed margins and demonstrating mild posterior acoustic enhancement. Since this mass does not have the typical appearance of a lymph node, ultra sound guided biopsy is merited. Axilla otherwise normal.

Suspicious 4a low suspicion for malignancy.

One of the things I learned is that a high BIRADS score means the doctor wants further attention (such as a biopsy) rather than the wait-and-rescan approach. Also, 80% of things that even get to biopsy are benign. Here you have the words "low suspicion for malignancy"--good words!--with a 4a. They just want to make sure it's not malignant, but they can't give you a 1 for "low suspicion of malignancy" because that's not how the BIRADS system works. I, personally. would also take some positive feelings from the "circumscribed margins." 'Spiculated' is the description of my mass that turned out to be malignant; it was not circumscribed at all.

I know the waiting is hard. We are here with you.

"circumscribed margins and demonstrating mild posterior acoustic enhancement"....are very good words. This kind of description are typical for B9 lesions, and with a BIRAD4A, you have a very low suspicion for malignancy.

Having a biopsy is a prudent choice being made by the radiologist, but he is not overly concerned.

Many things happen to our breasts, and most are not cancer. Im going to take a layman's educated guess who knows a bit about BC that this is what is going on with you

Hi there, I read your report and what others had to say. Are you going to get the biopsy done? Cause without that nothing is conclusive. The tests that we have that a radiologist does and somehow puts his opinion and biraids score can never be made without a biopsy, so I hope you will follow through with that. I did on mine and it came back b9 but radiologist was so sure it was cancer so they never know till they test the tissue. Good luck and Hope all turns out good for you. God bless.....
