just an FYI for newbies out there.. take stool softeners from day 1.. I am now in hell...

A few years back I had external hemorrhoids thrombost.(clot) I had to have them removed. That was pretty painful. Now I think my internal hemorrhoids have done the same. Today has not been a happy day for me and my booty 😭

Unfortunately this became my area of expertise As well as stool softeners, you need to keep up the fluids. When it gets to the stage of "playing marbles" it is horrid. I keep a container of oats soaking in juice or milk in the fridge with lots of nuts, seeds and dried fruit, prunes and the like. It is high in fibre and my usual breakfast. If I dont have it for breakfast I eat a spoon or two during the day.

My best tip is to have a small stool in your toilet to put your feet on. The height depends on the height of your toilet, mine is about 9-10 inches high. It changes the angle of your bowel and makes it so much easier to do the deed.

Ladies - sharing the link to a thread that has everything for "going". Happy, sad, funny and everything in between - but serious suggestions about how to deal with constipation.

When I started the pain meds no one told me about taking medication to help have a bowel movement and it put me in the hospital!

    ty Minus Two.. 💞

I called my breast navigator today. I said "please.make.sure all patients know about this...seriously"

I saw my surgeon today. So after getting all my drains out.. that is a whole new post.. I said "I have another issue"

He checked me,with this little thing. Not the most pleasant thing in the world, but certainly not the worst either. He said I need to get internal hemorrhoids removed. From what he can tell I have a tear roughly 3 inches long with grade 3 hemorrhoids. This was a guess since he was just practically about to see. He gave me a few scripts. He said it will eventually heal but it will be a while and it will continue to hurt. For now I'm doing my sitz bath, suppositories, cream and eating better. I'm a not eater very often, but a big fluid taker. He encouraged more fiber too. Anyway the weird thing is,I'm not constipated. No hard stool, just a very tender..no not tender.. extremely sensitive rear. Yesterday I thought I was going to tear the toilet paper stand right off the wall from gripping it so hard. 😭

GAMomma - glad you're getting some help with the hemorrhoids. Sorry to hear about the pain. I took Colace from before my surgeries and kept a chart of BMs. If I thought they were getting harder/smaller/further apart - I switched to Senekot S - stool softener w/laxative - for a couple of days until the situation resolved or I could make myself eat enough dried prunes to keep things regular.
