GAMomma you will be in my thoughts and prayers . Please let us know when you are ready how you are doing.
-
Best wishes today, GAMomma! Maybe you are out of surgery and resting well. I hope you will have a speedy recovery and great pathology results.
-
I hope your surgery went smoothly GAMomma and that you are as comfortable as possible as you recover!

good morning everyone.. things went well. I had 3 lymphnodes removed and both breast.my pain is higher then expected. Not sure if it's just me for what, but it hurts, a.lot.I'm sure. Nauseas this morning g a.d ache from hip to head. I'm sure it's all normal. I came home yesterday. Laying I feel ok. Walking is rough. I will update as I can.
-
Hang in there, GAMomma! It will start getting better soon. Short walks are really helpful, even though getting out of bed stinks. Also, beware the blues. I had mood swings for many months after MX. All of that estrogen-soaked tissue that is removed really messed with my moods. Knowing that this is a normal side effect helped me (and my family) weather the storms. xo
-
GAMomma - Sorry to hear about the pain but it will pass soon. I know you can't take pain meds but I found that my day 3 tylenol was enough to manage it. Rest and relax. We're all rooting for you! Luna
-
GAMomma, I'm sorry to hear about the pain especially when moving. I was very sore for a few days too but like you was okay when reclining back. Hang in there........for me, I was able to stop all pain meds by day 4. It will get better each day with the discomfort. And overall well-being and range of motion improved every week.
-
GAMomma, so sorry you're in pain. Keep trying to get up for small walks (from comfy spot to comfy spot) and in the next few days you will notice a decrease in your discomfort. Keep taking good care of yourself and pampering is totally called for!
(hugs)

GAMomma glad to hear it went well and sorry for all the post op pain , hopefully you are like most of us and everyday is a better day. Hopefully at least the Tylenol will let you sleep. Can you take muscle relaxants? My Dr prescribed those for me and I liked them more than the pain Medication. And yes emotions can take over that pain s for sure mine were a mess between week 3 & 4.

I'm hanging in. My drains will be the death of me.. ok exaggerating a little.. I got back Monday. I know my 1 on the left will be removed, but these 2 on the right, will be here longer. I'm still putting out 30-40 Ccs a day. It is going down..just slow.
I guess I read too much. I read people sat 2 weeks post op they were driving, back to normal. I'm not. Nowhere near normal. Getting up hurts, lifting my arms hurts, laying certain ways hurts. I'm just in a pity party today.
-
emotions can take over just remember that is all normal and like everything else with this we all heal emotionally and physically at different paces don't worry to much about how fast or slow someone healed or got back to "normal" everyone's normal is different. I had drains for over 3 weeks after one of my surgeries. It was a day to celebrate when they came out. Also remember the more activity you do the bigger possibility of drain output being higher your body needs rest to heal.
Stay positive you got this!
-
thanks. I agree with everything you said. I'm in patient due to a sensitivity to tape adhesive.so along with these pain in the rear drains I'm itchy. We tried different tape, all the same. Last night I kept everything uncovered and put cortisone on the irritated areas. It helped some. At least I'm not wanting to tear my skin off today. I'm just laying and sleeping today 😁
-
yes tape seems to be a nemesis for so many of us. I also notice now after all my surgeries my skin is very sensitive to any thing that touches it for too long besides clothes.
Try A&D ointment that seemed to help m

GA Momma - tell your docs & hospitals that they must use either Medipore or Hypafix tape. Most places have one of the other but I always take a roll with me just in case. I will go find the tape problem thread and bump it up to the active list.
-
oooh thank you. Can I get it at Wal-Mart?
-
I don't think so. I bought mine either on line or at a medical supply store. But for sure your hospital should have it even if your doc doesn't keep it in his/her office.
-
ok. I have a few locally. Thanks so much!!
-
GAMomma - below is the thread about tape issues & alternatives.

Drains are gone..YIPEE!!
Let.me share this.
First drain today not so bad,but they had to dig a stitch out.. yeah not fun,but really.okay.
Drain 2..as they try to pull the pain when through my back,up my arm pit and this weird sensation in my jip/groin area. I got super sweaty, nauseas and felt like I was going to pass out. The PA came in to see what was wrong. It turned out a few of my staples were in my drain tube. I am very thin with little cat in this area and it just happened. They removed a few staples then it freed up the tube. Holy cow it hurt.
I'm sore right now. I think it's normal. Just achy. Next Monday I get the rest of the staples out. Tomorrow I can shower...YIPEE!!!!
-
ouch ! But yay, the drain is out. Happy dance for the shower too . It will feel amazing! Oh how the little things seem to matter.
