Chemo while recovering from reconstruction

Let me try this again, thank you autocorrect.

If there is a thread for this already, please point me in the right direction.

I will be having a mastectomy with reconstruction at the same time (I'm leaning towards DIEP). My port will also be placed at that time. My onc wants to see me quickly after surgery after she has the final path report and she will set up chemo to begin right away.

I'm looking for any tips/info/insight into going through chemo while still recovering from major surgery. Last time I had a lumpectomy and started chemo a couple of weeks later. Recovery from that was uncomplicated.

    My sister is still recovering from DIEP which she had 3 months ago. (She had chemo first). It has been grueling.

    Her surgeon recommended she wait a year after chemo to have DIEP done, which she did.

    I had a single MX 5 years ago and started chemo within 3.5 weeks. No problem.

    From all the women I have talked to with Diep, some sort of sail through but others have a horrible recovery

    with wound care needs, etc. PLEASE talk to many women before you make this decision to do this

    surgery and then start chemo so soon.
