reconstruction with severe GERD and gastroparesis

Hi all,

just got diagnosed.most likely BMX. i have severe reflux and gatroparesis ( delayed gastric emptying time). i cannot tolerate the tightness of a bra, i have stopped wearing bras and i wear camisoles with built in bra ( looser, no snaps). i wonder what would be the best reconstruction for me? i'm thinking i like the simplicity of implants? i have also been reading the thread about implants over the pectoral muscles? any suggestions? thanks so much. this forum has been a big help for a newly diagnosed like me , who have to make many decisions in so short a time. i am meeting my oncologic surgeon next week.

    Hello kae,

    The oncologic surgeon is responsible for removing the cancer. A Plastic Surgeon would be responsible for the reconstruction. Do you have a PS yet? I'm not sure where you live or what your treatment options would be.

    Ask your Plastic Surgeon how severe reflux and gastroparesis would affect your reconstruction choices. Your PS will know your history best and be able to offer some choices for you.

    Possibly you may want to avoid any abdominal surgery so not to aggravate your existing conditions. Ask if the surgeries or procedures may require binding or restricting clothing after surgery. I know the ladies who have had fat grafting always complain about the binding afterwards.
