Zoladex, Period with first shot?
I just recieved my first injection of Zoladex. I have only had one period since I went through chemo, but I just had another period right after I was given Zoladex. Has anyone else experienced this?

I did not do chemo so my period never went away but I do lupron shots and I did get a period after the first one

Did you have your ovaries removed or is that in the future?

My MO said it could take a few weeks for the shots to kick in. I got my period right before my first Zoladex shot but that was it. I would definitely let your MO know if you get another one.

I see that you posted a while ago now, but was wondering how it all worked out?
I’ve just started a period, had my first zoladex two weeks ago. This is my first period in 12 months, as I haven’t had any through chemo etc. I just thought it a little weird that they would start back up again now that I’ve started hormone therapy, as they all tell you that zoladex will stop them. Of course I will be asking my oncologist about it next appointment.

I just found this thread and it put me a bit at ease.
But still, I would like to ask - is it normal to get a period after the 1st Zoladex shot?
I started AC chemo 2 weeks ago and got the Zoladex shot on the same day. Second chemo was this week Monday (I'm on dose dense, two-week cycle). Today (Wednesday) a period! Looks normal, in heaviness and overall feelings connected to it. It's 16 days after Zoladex shot, 22 days after my last normal period... So this one is a week earlier.
Shall I call my MO? Or can it wait until my next app. which is Monday for blood check? Any similar experiences and what did your MO say?

This is how my MO explained Zoladex to me when I was starting the shots. He said he would give me the shot but not start me on AI's until he could confirm I was suppressed. He said I would get the shot and then three weeks later he would test my estrogen levels to make sure I was able to be suppressed and the shot was working. He said there are a certain percentage of women who can not be suppressed with Zoladex. He said estrogen levels never used to be checked but he said women would get pregnant while on Zoladex so it had to be looked at further. So now usually estrogen levels are checked to confirm suppression. The AI's are not effective if the ovaries are not suppressed. If you got your period while on Zoladex it's definitely worth a call to your MO. My MO then checked my estrogen levels every month while I was on the Zoladex. The results were the lowest possible and he said estrogen levels were virtually undetectable so he knew shots were working. I always had the intention of having my ovaries removed so I onlyreceived 4 shots and then had the surgery.
