Basal vs. Non-Basal TNBC?

In educating myself about triple negative breast cancer, I've learned that while most TNBC is basal-like, that's not always the case. In reviewing my biopsy and post surgical pathology reports, I can't find that cytokeratins were analyzed and that is apparently important in identifying whether the tumor was basal along with the EGFR status. I had the Foundation One molecular test run and don't have the EGFR mutation.

Did your pathology reports include cytokeratin information? I recognize that I'll either recur or not, but I'm a naturally curious person so it's my nature to want to analyze available research relevant to my diagnosis and prognosis.

Thanks, Lyn

Hello Lyn !!. Im triple negative too and the doctor send me the test of ck-5/6, CK-14 and EGRF. They all give positive. So the doctor say Im fenotipe Basal-Like too.

They do to u the same test. Now the doctor send me the genetics one. BRCA1 y BRCA2.

I hope this words give u some information u need.

    My best wishes to u

Thank you, Marias. Unfortunately, I'm annoyed that neither of my pathology reports included the CK information. As I mentioned, I know I don't have the EGFR mutation. Neither am I BRCA positive. Best of luck to you.

hi, my name is Ruth. I had tnbc back in 2015. Bilateral mastectomy and chemo. No nodes involved. I tested negative for the BRACA 1 and 2. Only reading up now, on the Basel. I have a check up in March. My doctor at this point only wants to do a blood test. I am terrified of reoccurrence. Just curious who out there is having better testing, and what should I ask fo
